THE INVENTION RELATES TO AN ULTRAVIOLET RAY-ABSORBING COMPOSITION FOR TREATING TEXTILES WHICH COMPRISES A CATIONIC COMPOUND (A) SUCH AS A POLYMER OF DIMETHYL-DIALLYL AMMONIUM CHLORIDE; AN ULTRAVIOLET RAY-ABSORBING AGENT (B); AN ANTIOXIDANT (C) SUCH AS DIBUTYL HYDROXY TOLUENE; AND A WATER-SOLUBLE SOLVENT (D) SUCH AS ETHANOL. THE COMPOSITION MAY FURTHER COMPRISE A SILICONE COMPOUND (E) AS AN OPTIONAL COMPONENT. THE ULTRAVIOLET RAY-ABSORBING COMPOSITION FOR TREATING TEXTILES PERMITS THE ADSORPTION OF AN ULTRAVIOLET RAY-ABSORBING AGENT UNIFORMLY AND EVENLY ON TEXTILE PRODUCTS TREATED AND THEREFORE, IT IS EXCELLENT IN THE ULTRAVIOLET RAY-SCREENING EFFECT. THE COMPOSITION OF THE INVENTION HARDLY UNDERGOES ANY COLOR CHANGE EVEN WHEN EXPOSED TO THE RAYS OF THE SUN.
