THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A SECURITY ELEMENT (3) HAVING A TRANSPARENT CARRIER MATERIAL THAT EXHIBITS, ON A FIRST SIDE, A FIRST PERIODIC OR ALMOST PERIODIC DOT OR LINE PRINT PATTERN (1) AND, ON A SECOND SIDE, A SECOND PERIODIC OR ALMOST PERIODIC DOT OR LINE PRINT PATTERN (2) THAT IS SUBSTANTIALLY A MIRROR IMAGE THEREOF, THE SECOND DOT OR LINE PRINT PATTERN (2) EXHIBITING AT LEAST ONE PARTIAL REGION IN WHICH THE DOTS OR LINES ARE ARRANGED OFFSET WITH RESPECT TO THE DOTS OR LINES OF THE REMAINING SECOND DOT OR LINE PRINT PATTERN. IT IS POSSIBLE TO INCREASE THE COUNTERFEIT SECURITY OF THE SECURITY ELEMENT (3) IN THAT THE FIRST DOT OR LINE PRINT PATTERN (1) IS COMBINED WITH AN EMBOSSING PATTERN (31,32) THAT IS PRODUCED WITH AN INTAGLIO PRINTING METHOD, AND IN THAT THE FIRST DOT OR LINE PRINT PATTERN (1) COACTS WITH THE SECOND DOT OR LINE PRINT PATTERN (2) IN SUCH A WAY THAT AT LEAST ONE PARTIAL REGION EXHIBITS, VIEWED IN TRANSMISSION, A PIECE OF VISUALLY PERCEPTIBLE INFORMATION (7) THAT INDICATES THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE SECURITY ELEMENT.
