WHEN TRAVEL IS COMMENCED, A SERVOMOTOR (18) ROTATES A BALL SCREW (17). WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE PICKUP DEVICE (11) IS MOVED IN THE DIRECTION AWAY FROM THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY LINE (9). WHEN TRAVEL IS STOPPED WHEN THE PASSENGER CAGE (1) APPROACHES THE TARGET FLOOR, THE SERVOMOTOR (18) ROTATES THE BALL SCREW (17) IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION TO THAT ON COMMENCEMENT OF TRAVEL.
