Abstract
THERE IS PROVIDED A METHOD FOR CUTTING A MOLTEN GLASS FLOW FLOWING DOWN CONTINUOUSLY FROM THE LOWER END OF A GLASS MELTING FURNACE THROUGH A GLASS FORMING PIPE TO OBTAIN A GLASS GOB INCLUDES A STEP OF CUTTING THE MOLTEN GLASS FLOW BY CAUSING A PAIR OF CUTTING BLADES (3,3'') PROVIDED HORIZONTALLY AND OPPOSITE TO EACH OTHER TO CROSS EACH OTHER ON ONLY ONE SIDE OF THE MOLTEN GLASS FLOW WITH A CROSSING ANGLE AT THE START OF CONTACT OF THE CUTTING BLADES (3,3'') WITH THE MOLTEN GLASS FLOW BEING SET WITHIN A RANGE FROM 3° TO 30°. THERE IS ALSO PROVIDED AN APPARATUS (A) FOR CARRYING OUT THIS METHOD. (FIG. 2 & 3)
