Abstract

PURPOSE:To cut a steel pipe easily and quickly despite the presence of earth and sand, etc. on the outer side of said pipe by arranging the downward angle of a torch and the clearance between the torch and the steel pipe properly. CONSTITUTION:A revolving shaft 15 is made into one body with a rod 16 for supporting a torch and a plasma torch 17 for cutting is suspended down to the required cutting depth in a steel pipe 14 by utilizing a guiding device 18. The torch 17 at the bottom end of the shaft 15 is inclined downward at the prescribed angle by taking the drooping of a melt 20 owing to own-weight during melting into consideration and the clearnance between the torch 17 and the pipe 14 is properly set by taking blowing back into consideration. The pipe 14 is cut in water by the arc heat of the plasma arc, whereby the pipe 14 is cut continuously and speedily despite the presence of earth and sand, etc. on the outer side thereof.
