A HOUSING, COMPRISING TWO HALF-SHELLS (26, 26A) FOR A SWITCHING DEVICE SUCH AS A CIRCUIT BREAKER IN PARTICULAR, WITH AN ARC GAP (30) WITH TWO ARC RUNNING RAILS (2A, 32) WHICH ARE ADJACENT TO THE CONTACT POINTS (7, 7') AND BETWEEN WHOSE END SECTIONS THERE IS DISPOSED A DE-IONIZING CHAMBER (34) COMPRISING A STACK OF QUENCHING PLATES (35), ADJACENT TO WHICH THERE IS DISPOSED A BLOWOUT CHAMBER (36) WITH A BLOWOUT OPENING (37), WITHIN SAID BLOWOUT CHAMBER (36) THERE ARE WALLS (38) WHICH ARE ATTACHED INTEGRALLY TO THE BOTTOM SHELL (26) AND WALLS (38A) WHICH ARE ATTACHED INTEGRALLY TO THE UPPER SHELL (26A), WITH THE WALLS (38, 38A) EACH EXTENDING MAXIMALLY UP TO THE CENTRAL PLANE (39) OF THE HOUSING, THE WALLS (38) ATTACHED TO THE BOTTOM SHELL (26) BEING PROVIDED WITH A CONFIGURATION WHEN SEEN IN A PLAN VIEW WHICH DIFFERS FROM THE WALLS (38A) ATTACHED TO THE UPPER SHELL (26A) AND WITH THE WALLS (38) ATTACHED TO THE BOTTOM SHELL (26) BEING DISPOSED IN A MANNER AS BEING OFFSET IN SECTIONS WITH RESPECT TO THE WALLS (38A) ATTACHED TO THE UPPER SHELL (26A) AND BEING DISPOSED IN SECTIONS IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE WALLS (38A) ATTACHED TO THE UPPER SHELL (26A).FIGURE 3C
