A WOOD PRESERVATIVE COMPOSITION COMPRISES A HARD-PERMEATING WOOD PRESERVATIVE AND AN ALIPHATIC ORGANIC ACID AS ESSENTIAL INGREDIENTS AND OPTIONALLY ANOTHER FUNGICIDAL COMPONENT, ANOTHER INSECTICIDAL COMPONENT, A COLOR FORMING COMPONENT, A SURFACTANT, AND/OR A SOLVENT. ALSO, A METHOD FOR IMPROVING THE PERMEABILITY OF A HARD-PERMEATING WOOD PRESERVATIVE COMPOSITION, COMPRISES THE STEP OF ADDING A SMALL AMOUNT OF A AN ALIPHATIC ORGANIC ACID TO A HARD-PERMEATING WOOD PRESERVATIVE. ADDITION AND COMBINED USE OF AN ALIPHATIC ORGANIC ACID IMPROVES THE PERMEABILITY OF A HARD-PERMEATING WOOD PRESERVATIVE INTO TIMBER AND ENABLES SIMULTANEOUS PREVENTION OF DECAY OF TIMBER, SURFACE AND INTERIOR COLORING OF TIMBER DUE TO THE GROWTH OF FUNGI, AND DAMAGES BY TERMITES.
