A DRIVE SYSTEM FOR A TAPE PLAYER WHICH INCLUDES A ROTATION TRANSMISSION MECHANISM FOR TRANSMITTING THE ROTATION OF THE DRIVE MOTOR TO A TRANSMISSION GEAR MECHANISM (6) FOR DRIVING THE TAPE WINDING REELS. THE ROTATION TRANSMISSION MECHANISM INCLUDES A FIRST ENDLESS BELT FOR TRANSMITTING A DRIVE OF THE DRIVE MOTOR TO A SECOND FLYWHEEL (2B) COAXIAL WITH A SECOND CAPSTAN (1 B), AN INTERMEDIATE GEAR PULLEY (5) INCLUDING A GEAR ENGAGED WITH A GEAR COAXIALLY PROVIDED WITH THE SECOND FLYWHEEL (2B), AND A SECOND ENDLESS BELT FOR TRANSMITTING A ROTATION OF THE INTERMEDIATE GEAR PULLEY (5) TO A FIRST FLYWHEEL (2A) COAXIAL WITH A FIRST CAPSTAN (1A). DEPENDING ON THE NECESSITY, THE DRIVE OF THE DRIVE MOTOR IS TRANSMITTED TO THE TRANSMISSION GEAR MECHANISM (6) THROUGH THE INTERMEDIATE GEAR PULLEY (5) OR THE SECOND FLYWHEEL (2B). (FIGURE 3)
