THE PREPARATION OF 1,2- DICHLOROETHANE (EDC) IS CONDUCTED BY FEEDING ETHYLENE AND CHLORINE INTO CIRCULATING EDC (DIRECT CHLORINATION) IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE REACTION MIXTURE BOILS, THE HEAT OF REACTION BEING LED OFF FROM THE GAS SPACE.
