Abstract

IN A METAL-ENCLOSED TYPE SWITCHGEAR, A PARTITION PLATE (5) IS PROVIDED IN AN INTERMEDIATE PART, AS VIEWED-IN THE FRONT-REAR DIRECTION, OF AN ENCLOSURE (1) THEREBY TO PARTITION THE ENCLOSURE (1) AIRTIGHTLY INTO AN EQUIPMENT CHAMBER (6) AND A BUS BAR CHAMBER (7). VACUUM CIRCUIT BREAKERS (2) ARE MOUNTED VERTICALLY IN FOUR TIERS ON ONE SIDE OF THE EQUIPMENT CHAMBER (B), AND AN OPERATING MECHANISM (3) IS MOUNTED ON ONE SIDE OF EACH VACUUM CIRCUIT BREAKER (2) IN CLOSE PROXIMITY THEREOF. CONDUCTORS (4) ARE PROVIDED IN THE BUS BAR CHAMBER (7), TO THE REAR OF THE PARTITION PLATE (5), AND A DISCONNECTOR (14) IS CONNECTOR BETWEEN EACH VACUUM CIRCUIT BREAKER (2) AND EACH CONDUCTOR (4). AN INSULATION GAS IS SEALED IN WITHIN THE BUS BAR CHAMBER (7). EACH VACUUM CIRCUIT BREAKER (2) HAS A VACUUM VALVE (16) FORMED BY AN INSULATION LAYER (17) WHICH IS INTEGRAL WITH UPPER AND LOWER TERMINALS (16A, 16B) AND ON WHICH IS APPLIED A GROUNDING LAYER (18), AND EACH OPERATING MECHANISM (3) IS INSTALLED IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE INSULATION LAYER (17). THE POTENTIAL BETWEEN THE POWER SUPPLY PART OF THE MAIN-CIRCUIT EQUIPMENT AND GROUND IS THEREFORE INCREASED, AND THE VOLTAGE-WITHSTAND CHARACTERISTIC BETWEEN THE ITEMS OF THE MAIN-CIRCUIT EQUIPMENT IS IMPROVED. MOREOVER, THE INSTALLATION SPACING BETWEEN THE ITEMS OF THE MAIN-CIRCUIT EQUIPMENT IS REDUCED, WHEREBY THE NUMBER OF VACUUM CIRCUIT BREAKERS (2) WHICH CAN BE ACCOMMODATED IN MULTIPLE VERTICAL TIERS CAN BE INCREASED WITHOUT INCREASING THE EXTERIOR BULK AND THE INSTALLATION FLOOR AREA OF THE ENCLOSURE (1).
