Abstract

THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A NOVEL PROCESS FOR PREPARING PYRROLIDINE CARBOXYLIC ACID DERIVATIVE OF THE FORMULA.(FORMULA 1) CHARACTERIZED BY REACTING THIOL GROUP-INTRODUCING AGENT OBTAINED FROM REACTION OF CARBON DISULFIDE AND ALKALI METAL HYDROXIDE IN AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION, WITH 1-[ 3-BROMO-(2S)- METHYL PROPIONYL] -PYRROLIDINE-(2S) -CARBOXYLIC ACID OF THE FORMULA.( FORMULA 2) AND THEN SUBJECTING THE RESULTING INTERMEDIATE COMPOUND TO ACID TREATMENT AND REDUCTION TREATMENT TO PROVIDE 1-[ 3-MERCAPTO-(2S) -METHYL PROPIONYL]- PYRROLIDINE-(2S)- CARBOXYLIC ACID (1).
