Abstract

AN IMPROVED TAPE CASSETTE (2) INCLUDES A CASE (4) HAVING AN OPEN FRONT END (14) TO WHICH A DOOR (16) IS PIVOTALLY MOUNTED FOR MOVEMENT BETWEEN OPEN AND CLOSED POSITIONS. THE DOOR IS A MOLDED PLASTIC PART AND PREFERABLY INCLUDES AN INTEGRALLY MOLDED PLASTIC SPRING (32). THE SPRING IS POSITIONED, SHAPED AND SIZED SO THAT ITS OUTER END (34) ENGAGES THE CASE TO BIAS THE DOOR FROM THE OPEN POSITION TO THE CLOSED POSITION. THE SPRING IS PREFERABLY MADE OF A SPRING QUALITY PLASTIC WHILE THE REST OF THE DOOR IS MADE OF A STRUCTURAL QUALITY PLASTIC. THIS PERMITS THE SPRING TO HAVE THE DESIRED RESILIENT QUALITIES WHILE THE REST OF THE DOOR CAN HAVE APPROPRIATE STRUCTURAL PROPERTIES. (FIG. 1)
