Abstract

AN OXYGEN-RICH GAS IS PRODUCED BY SEPARATING NITROGEN FROM A GAS MIXTURE CONTAINING MAINLY OXYGEN AND NITROGEN, SUCH AS AIR, BY PRESSURE SWING ADSORPTION. USING THREE ADSORPTION COLUMNS FILLED WITH AN ADSORBENT, A PRESSURE EQUALIZATION STEP, PRESSURIZING AND OXYGEN-RICH GAS DISCHARGING STEP, DEPRESSURIZING STEP, REDUCED PRESSURE EVACUATION STEP, DEPRESSURIZING STEP, REDUCED PRESSURE EVACUATION STEP, AND PURGING AND VACUUM EVACUATION STEP ARE CARRIED OUT SUCCESSIVELY IN ONE COLUMN, AND THE PROCESS CYCLE IS CARRIED OUT WHILE CHANGING THE PHASE IN EACH OF THE OTHER TWO COLUMNS, THEREBY DISCHARGING AN OXYGEN-RICH GAS AS THE PRODUCT GAS.(FIG. 1)
