Abstract

Un método y aparato para medir la porosidad total, por resonancia magnética nuclear, de una formación geológica penetrada por un pozo de sondeo, sensible a los rápidos tiempos de relajación que pueden estar relacionados con el agua ligada con arcilla. La medición de la porosidad total incluye, además de la porosidad del fluido libre y edáfica, la porosidad del agua ligada con arcilla y microporosidad. Un campo magnético oscilante es producido dentro del pozo de sondeo, de acuerdo con una secuencia con alternación de fase, tal como la secuencia de Carr-Purcell-Meilboom-Gill (CPMG) o una secuencia de impulsos similar, para inducir señales en el volumen de la formación que son medibles para la sonda de diagrafía por NMR. Una separación de ecos reducida y una relación de señal-ruido mejorada permiten la recuperación de componentes del T2 cortos. Las señales de los ecos del espín son medidas, y se determina un valor para cada señal. Los valores de las señales son separados en un primer y segundo conjuntos, donde el primer conjunto comprende las señales de los ecos iniciales y el segundo conjunto comprende las señales de los ecos restantes. El segundo conjunto de ecos es subdividido en una pluralidad de grupos, y se genera un valor de adición en ventanas para cada grupo del segundo conjunto, produciendo, por consiguiente, una pluralidad de ventanas de sumas. Basándose en la pluralidad de ventanas de sumas, y el valor para cada señal del primer conjunto, se determina un atributo de la formación.
