Description

ARRANGEMENT IN ONA SPRAY TUBE NOZZLE The present invention relates to a nozzle array in a spray tube arranged at the outer free end of a spray tube, nozzle which is adapted by means of intersecting flow passages to atomize liquid which is fed to the spray tube under Pressure. The nozzle of the known type is designed so that a turbulent movement is imparted to the liquid, resulting in the atomization thereof. In order to obtain a sufficiently good atomization for certain applications, for example, for the atomization of a liquid anesthetic in the nose or throat, a nozzle designed in accordance with this principle frequently gives an outside diameter which is much larger than the outside diameter of the tube, so that the treatment can be perceived as described above as unpleasant. Solutions are known in which a nozzle for the atomization of a liquid is integrated with the tube, so that the latter has the same diameter along its total length. Due to this means, that the nozzle does not visually differ from the tube, the nozzle can be cut, by mistake, when REF: 26862 seeks to adapt the length of the tube to the special requirements. The use of intersecting flow passages in order to obtain an increased atomization effect in a liquid in a spray nozzle is already known from DE-A-1 625 235. In this, the helical slot of the array has the surface outer circumferential in a cylindrical part centrally located in a body that supports the mouth of the nozzle. Due to the fact that the grooves are arranged in both directions and with equal spacing, they intersect at a number of points. This leads to the flow in the ducts, which is formed by the passage and the body that supports the orifice of the nozzle, which are atomized at these points of intersection. The object of the present invention is to provide, at lower cost, an arrangement in a spray tube nozzle arranged at the outer free end of a spray tube, arrangement which produces the atomization of a liquid, so that a liquid can be released. Fog jet with a circular spray design from the spray nozzle. By means of this arrangement, a nozzle having only an outer diameter marginally larger than that of the tube is produced and can be used in applications such as, for example, atomization of liquid anesthetic for intermittent spray of the nose or throat. In addition, the arrangement is proposed to give a nozzle that differs visually from the rest of the tube so that the nozzle is not cut by mistake. According to the invention, this object is achieved since the arrangement comprises an elongated sleeve adapted to be carefully placed on the free end of the spray tube and designed with a terminal face having a centrally located nozzle opening and a circular body, located on the sleeve and essentially connected to the terminal face, the body having depressions that at least form two conduits communicating with the tube with the sleeve, which from the end of the tube run approximately axially to the face terminal, in which each conduit is connected by intersecting flow passages, formed in the terminal face of the body, to a chamber that is preferably connected coaxially with the opening of the nozzle.
According to a special feature of the invention, the opening of the nozzle tapers conically in the direction away from the chamber. So that the tube has a correct insertion depth in the sleeve, the body according to another special feature of the invention, has on its far side of the end face at least one contact surface for the end of the spray tube, determining the depth of insertion of the spray tube into the sleeve. In order to facilitate assembly and flow from the end of the tube into the ducts, the body located in the sleeve, according to another special feature of the invention, has terminal surfaces symmetrically formed with flow passages and chambers respectively. A further special feature of the invention resides in the fact that the conduits on the terminal face each divide into two flow passages, each one describing a part of an arc in opposite directions to another along the circumference and which are finally connected to the chamber, using a corresponding flow passage, which is connected from the opposite direction, between the chamber and the periphery.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will be further explained later with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 is a longitudinal section showing the outer end and a tube provided with the arrangement according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a terminal view of an inner part, the end surfaces of which are provided with intersecting flow passages.
In Figure 1.1, a tube is generally denoted at its outer free end having a nozzle, generally denoted in the drawing by 2. The purpose of the nozzle 2 is to atomize a pressurized liquid in a reservoir, not shown in FIG. drawing, to which the tube is connected. According to the invention, the nozzle 2 of the spray tube comprises two parts, an outer part 4 on the one hand, and an inner part 4 on the other hand. The outer part 3 has the shape of a cylindrical cup, which has an opening 5 in its base. The opening 5 serves as a nozzle opening and tapers conically in the direction away from the cup. The diameter of the spray pattern can be adjusted as a function of the opening angle of the opening 5. The inner part 4 comprises a body, which is in general a cylinder, the outer diameter of which is chosen so as to fit the outer part 3. Preferably, it has two axial grooves 6 along its circumferential surface, whereby the outer part 3 forms the conduits for the liquid to be atomized. The outer part 3 is adapted to be placed carefully on the free end of the spray tube after first inserting the inner part 4 directly into the outer part 3 and fitting it against its base. The inner part 4 determines the insertion depth of the spray tube 1 on the outside 3 by means of the contact surface, which is constituted by the terminal surface of the inner part 4 which is fitted against the tube 1. At its end surrounding the tube 1, the outer part 3 is connected to the tube 1, for example by ultrasonic welding or an equivalent method. The connection is executed in such a way that there is no risk that the nozzle 2 according to the invention, which is placed at the end of the tube, becomes separated in use. The connection is watertight so that the liquid can not flow back and forth between the circumferential surface of tube 1 and the outer part 3. In order to facilitate assembly, the end or end surfaces of the inner part 4 are identically designed and they are formed with grooves 7 and chambers 8. The grooves 7 together with the base of the outer part 3 and the end of the tube respectively form the flow passages 7 for the liquid. The flow passages 7 open in the chambers 8, one of which communicates with the opening 5 in the base of the outer part 3 and the other of which communicates with the opening in the free end of the spray tube 1 As will be seen from Figure 2, the flow passages 7 on the end surfaces of the inner part are arranged so that the passages 6 on the terminal face are each divided into two flow passages 7. The passages describe each a part of an arc in opposite directions to each other along the circumference. The flow passages 7 are finally connected to the chamber 8, using a corresponding flow passage 7, which is connected from the opposite direction, between the chamber and the periphery.
The flow passages 7 are also arranged so that the liquid flows by finding another in the chamber 8. This arrangement of flow passages 7 results in a very good atomization of the liquid. When the liquid is pumped through the spray tube 1 and reaches the inner part 4, the liquid is forced into the chamber 8 and to the side through the flow passages 7 and up to the ducts 6 on the side of the inner part 4. This is facilitated by the fact that both terminal surfaces of the inner part 4 are provided with the slots 7 in the chambers 8. The liquid is then forced through the conduits 6 to the front side of the inner part 4., where it continues through the flow passages 7 and is atomized by virtue of the fact that the latter are designed so that they cross each other. The atomized liquid then continues to chamber 8 where the flows are combined. Subsequently, the liquid is forced through the hole 5 in the base of the outer part 3, where it is further atomized to produce a circular spray pattern. The fact that the outer part 3 has a somewhat larger diameter than the tube 1 means that the atomizing nozzle 2 differs visually from the rest of the spray tube 1, so that it is not cut by mistake before use. The invention is not naturally limited to the embodiment given above by way of example, but provides in itself modifications within the idea of the invention described in the subsequent patent claims.
It is noted that in relation to this date, the best method known by the applicant to carry out the present invention, is the conventional one for the manufacture of the objects to which it refers. Having described the invention as above, the content of the following is claimed as property:
