Description

COVERING COMPOSITIONS OF LÍPIZ LñBIñL THAT COMPRISE ñ SILICON AND SILICA CEILING TECHNICAL CRAM The present invention is a composition which, when applied to a lipstick composition, prevents the transfer of lipstick to objects such as cups, cups and other tableware that remain in contact with the lab-oe. Accordingly, this invention prolongs the time between the applications of said lipstick for retouching. Said invention increases the luster and luster of the lips, while at the same time giving the wearer properties of good sensation in the skin.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The lipstick-treatment products, whose primary purpose is to prolong the use, improve resistance to lump transfer and enhance lip gloss, are well known in the art. These lipstick products, which are referred to herein as coverings, utilize a variety of polymeric fluids and film forcing technologies. For example, acrylic film formers, incorporated in the coverings, such as "Sealed with a Kiss" by CSI Incorporated, are supplied in a volatile vehicle, alcohol, which is spread on the surface of the lipstick. These products have a solid nature and impart a dry, scratchy feel to the surface of the lips. Additionally, those polymeric coatings are perceived as sticky during the first minutes after application, when the volatile vehicle begins to evaporate. Alternative cover products to those described above are described in Japanese Patent Application Number HEI 5C.1993] -221829, published on August 3, 1993. Such coverings are said to exhibit improved durability of the make-up effect, suppression of the color transfer and improved applicability. The coatings comprise from 0.2 to 25% of silica powder and / or alumina powder and from 75% to 99.8% of a perfolyoriether of the general formula: 3 R4 RS Rl -i-CF2 CFCF O? -p ( CFCF20 + -, (CFCH-r R2 where Ri to RS are independently fluorine atoms, perfluoroalkyl groups or oxyperfluoroalkyl groups, the value of p, qyr is at least zero, wherein the molecular weight of the perfluoropolyether is from 500 to 10,000, approximately wherein P, 0 and R may be the same, but are not zero The preferred perfluoropolyether described therein is a commercially available product, known as Fomblin HC-04, HC-25 and HC-R, obtainable from tontefluosu Milan, Italy When applied, these products are typically considered pleasantly soft and lubricated, however, due to their surface energy, the fluorinated fluid quickly changes from the lips in contact with the saliva, coffee, water drink, etc., 5 leaving a dry, earthy layer of silica over the As more and more perfluoropolieter fluid rnigra of the lips, dramatically increases the negative feeling in the Lips, mentioned above, fiducially, the perfluoropolyether is very expensive, which substantially increases the price of retail sale of the final product. The new products newly placed on the market in Japan by Kose and Shiseido are compositions comprising silicones and hydrocarbon oils, wherein the compositions are applied to the lips in order to prolong L5 the life of the lipstick and provide a self-cleaning effect to protect the lips. It has been found that these two products also have negative effects of sensation on the skin and do not provide important long-term benefits. ? ü BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention is a composition comprising from about 75% to 99% of a non-volatile silicone fluid having a viscosity of 10 is to 1,000 is, approximately, and from 1% to 25%, approximately, of a thickening agent.
The above mentioned non-volatile liquid fluid corresponds to the For form: wherein Ri and e are independently selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl end groups, lower alkyl end groups, having chain lengths of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and mixtures thereof; and R2 to R5 are independently selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl groups having carbon chain lengths of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, fluoroalkyl groups, phenyl groups, o -alkyl groups and mixtures thereof. Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a cover composition to prevent transfer of the lipstick onto objects that come in contact with the lips. Another object of the present invention is to prolong the period of time between the applications of the lipstick. Another additional objective is to provide a composition that improves the application and feel characteristics of use sought by consumers, as well as improving the luster and gloss of the lipstick composition applied to the lips. All of these objectives are provided in a product that is less expensive than comparable products known in the art.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION fl. Non-volatile silicone fluids The non-volatile silicone fluid used in the present invention is according to the formula: wherein the terminal groups Ri and Re are independently selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl groups, lower alkyl groups having carbon chain lengths of about 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and mixtures thereof, preferably methyl groups. The non-terminal groups R2, R3. "V 5 are independently selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl groups having carbon chain lengths of about 1 to about 6 carbon atoms, fluoroalkyl groups, phenyl groups, arninoalkyl groups, and mixtures thereof. These non-volatile silicone fluids have a viscosity of from 10 to 1,000 is approximately, preferably from 50 to 500 is approximately 25 ° C and one atmosphere. Said compositions comprise from 75% to 99%, preferably from 90% to 99%, approximately, and most preferably from approximately 90% to 95%, of the non-volatile silicone fluid.
Silicone f-lides with the non-ending groups Les (R2, R3, 4 and R5) comprising straight-chain and branched-chain lower alkyl groups, having carbon chain lengths of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, are known in the art. In the present invention it is preferred that the chain length of 1 to 6 carbon atoms be as short as possible, in order to provide a final product with a relatively non-lipophilic nature. Accordingly, the methyl groups are the non-terminal alkyl groups that are most preferred in the present invention. Commercially available non-volatile silicone fluids having such non-terminal groups include those available from Dow Corning as 200 Fluids, and those which can be obtained from General Electric co or the ser-i e SF-96 . Silicone fluids with non-terminal groups comprising fluoroalkyl groups are also useful herein. However, it is preferred that the fluorine atom be attached to alkyl groups having a chain length of 3 to 8 carbon atoms, wherein the fluorine atom is attached to said alkyl group at a point no closer to than the third carbon atom from the silicon / carbon ligature. Commercially available non-volatile silicone fluids having such non-thermal groups include those which can be obtained from Dow Corning as the 1265 Fluid series and those which can be obtained from General Electric co or the SF-1153 series, Very preferred is the 1265 Fluid series, and those that are most preferred, those with an approximate viscosity of 100 is 350 is. Silicone fluids with nonterminal groups comprising halo groups are also useful in the present invention. The aillo groups which are particularly useful in the present invention are phenyl groups. Particularly useful commercially available SLL-substituted SLlicon fluids can be obtained as the 556th Dow Corning. The nonterminal groups mentioned above also include the inoalkyl groups which constitute the non-functional arnide silicones, such as methylsi-1-one, and can be structurally represented as: where x is equal to the number of repeating units in the polymer chain, and "y" is equal to the length of the alkyl group; where "and" is greater than approximately 2, but less than about 10 (2 <and <10). A particularly useful silicone fluid is aminopropylmethylsilicon, obtainable from Dow Corning, Inc. The preferred non-volatile silicone fluid used in the present invention is selected from the group consisting of dimethicone, phenyldimethylone, phenitolone, fluorosilicon, to inosilicon and its mixtures.
B.- Thickeners In the present invention the non-volatile ilicon fluid mentioned above is combined with a thickener to give a coating composition having a viscosity sufficient to prevent the composition from running off the lips immediately after application. Thickening agents are used at approximate levels of 1% to 25%, preferably from 1% to 10%, approximately, and most preferred, from 5% to 10%, approximately, of the composition. Preferred thickeners are selected from the group consisting of organic / inorganic thickeners, smoked silica, smoked titanium oxide, smoked alumina and mixtures thereof. Smoked yes is preferred. Smoky silica is commonly found in cosmetic compositions, since it establishes an associative network, bound with hydrogen, itself and with the chains of the silica polymer present in said compositions. Those silicas have a particle size geometry which, when mixed with the non-volatile silica fluid, provides a composition that has good skin feel characteristics, which resists the grainy or abrasive feeling on the lips, when applies or during use. The fumed silica useful in the present invention is selected from the group consisting of hydrophobic silica, hydrophilic silica and mixtures thereof. The most preferred hydrophilic fumed silica includes the Aerosol series, obtainable from Degussa Corporation, as described in the information sheet published by the supplier, which is incorporated herein by reference. The most preferred hydrophilic smoked silica is also supplied by Degussa and it is the flerosils that have been treated with organic material, which are described in the information sheet mentioned above, of the supplier. The hydrophobic fumed silica that is preferred over all is R974 flerosil.
C- The optional ingredients The compositions of the present invention additionally include optional ingredients that can be added to the composition described above to provide various desirable consumer characteristics in the product. Such optional ingredients include those routinely used in cosmetic techniques to produce a specific cosmetic effect that is considered convenient. In addition to other ingredients, such as preservatives and stabilizers, which maintain the total physical integrity of the products, said optional ingredients include: moisturizers, ocluyentes, flavorings, perfumes, colorants and other ingredients used routinely.
Volatile fluids are a particularly useful optional ingredient. They reduce the initial viscosity of a gelled silicone coating, thereby improving the ease of application of the composition on the lipstick. As the volatile fluid escapes from the composition, after application, the viscosity of the composition rapidly increases, imparting a pleasant, lubricating sensation to the lips. Such volatile fluids are selected from the group consisting of volatile hydrocarbons, volatile silicones and their mixtures. The compositions of the present invention may comprise from about 1% to 50%, preferably from 1% to 25% and, and preferably, from 1% to .1% volatile fluids. Preferred volatile hydrocarbon fluids include the isododecane, obtainable, for example, as Permethyl 99ñ from Pernethyl Corporation, and corresponding to the formula: CH3 (CH3)? Or CH3. Preferred volatile silicone fluids include cyclomethicones having 3, 4 and 5 membered ring structures, corresponding to the formula: where X is from 3 to 6, approximately. Such volatile silicones include 244 Fluid, 344 Fluid and 345 Fluid, from Dow Corning Corporation. The volatile silicone herein is gelled, preferably with fumed silica powder. D. Examples (1) 200 Fluid from Dow Corning (2) 1265 Fluid from Dow Corning (3) Aerosil 200, obtainable from Degussa Corp. (4) Aerosil R974, obtainable from Degussa Corp. (5) Per ethyl 99A, obtainable from Permethyl Corp. (6) Tospearl 3120A, obtainable from Toshiba Silicones (7) Cronosphere, obtainable from Cardre, Inc.
E.- Manufacturing method It is combined in a container equipped with a mixer, the silicone fluid and the thickener. It is stirred until the mixture is uniform, and then passed through a three-roll mill, at least four times, to thoroughly mix the components and decompose any agglomerated particles. The mixture can then be packaged or stored, preferably in air-tight containers.
F. Method of use The compositions of the present invention are applied to the surfaces of the lips covered with at least one layer of lipstick. The product is spread evenly over the surface of the lips by any means, including the movement of the lips one over the other, the tip of the user's finger, or a typical lipstick applicator.
