Description

SYSTEM FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF BULK MATERIALS, TRANSTREN The present invention relates to a System for the Transport of Large Quantities of Bulk Materials, such as minerals, coal, etc., in a range of intermediate distance between the economic use of belt conveyors and that of Railways or Autotransport, by example, between 50 and 250 km.
There are currently traditional systems for the transport of large quantities of bulk materials, such as rail and trucks, with carts that have a specific design for the loading and unloading of such materials.
On the other hand, systems using conveyor belts driven by motor systems and moving on rollers that can also transport bulk materials are also known.
Both systems have advantages for certain operating conditions and requirements, particularly the distance at which the material is transported, the railway for long distances and the conveyor belts for short distances.
Apart from these two systems the applicant is not aware of other similar systems that perform the same work.
Some drawbacks of the known systems for transporting bulk materials are, for example, the loading and unloading facilities that need to be designed and built, which have material handling capabilities within a range, which means that they do not have flexibility for handling larger volumes of materials that would be outside the design capacity of such facilities; to correct the above, several loading and unloading points are built, which means greater number and complexity of facilities.
The time consumed by the loading and unloading operations, particularly in the system used by the railroad, is another disadvantage, since the rail cars have to be loaded one at a time at each load point and the same happens with the unloading operation.
The belt conveyor system finds its greatest disadvantage in the limited distance to which bulk materials can be transported, as well as the complexity of their operation and maintenance.
Regarding the transport of bulk materials by trucks, the main disadvantage is the low capacity they have and that makes them impractical for the movement of large volumes of these materials.
The applicant has developed a novel system for the transport of large volumes of bulk materials that solves the aforementioned disadvantages of the transport systems hitherto known; the system of the present invention finds application, for example in the following cases: When a mining site is far from the infrastructure and it is more practical to transport the mineral to the infrastructure, to build the beneficiation plants, another example would be when the deposit is at high altitude and it is convenient to take it to lower altitudes to install the plants. benefit where men and machines work better, a third example, would be to take advantage of existing profit plants from distant sites, thus avoiding investment in new plants. This could make viable the exploitation of deposits that are currently not possible to operate.
The system for transporting large quantities of bulk materials of the present invention, called Transtren, consists essentially of two main parts: a traction equipment such as a railway locomotive and a trawl structure or carriage having a chassis and wheels like those of the railroad cars and that in turn supports a conveyor belt equipment.
In order to adequately illustrate the System for the Transport of Bulk Materials, Transtren, reference will be made to figure No. 1 that accompanies the present description, in which the parts that constitute the system of the present invention.
Figure No. 1 corresponds to a perspective view of the transtren, showing the part corresponding to the drag structure containing a conveyor belt; In order to identify the parts that make up this system, reference numbers will be used, in which the 1, identifies the position where the locomotive will be coupled to the drag structure, the railways are illustrated with the 2, also, you have a head pulley. 3, on which the conveyor belt 4 travels, which travels with the help of two groups of rollers, one upper or load rollers 5 and the other lower or return rollers 6, the conveyor belt 4 is driven through a coupling for drive system 7, or control, which is fixed at the loading or unloading station, not shown; the drag structure or trolley in turn has a light chassis 8, formed of a steel structure, in the side parts of this chassis, in a spaced relation, there are steel supports 9, for the structure that forms the conveyor of band; at the opposite end where the head pulley 3 is located, there is a tail pulley 10, which also serves for the displacement of the conveyor belt 4; likewise, the railway carriage wheels 11 and section 12 can be seen, where additional rail cars can be placed; the conveyor belt 4, is "protected for various purposes with a cover 13, which is positioned over most of the length of the conveyor belt 4, the arrow 14, indicates the direction of travel and the direction of the belt conveyor. .
The process under which the system for transporting bulk materials of the present invention operates is very simple and flexible; when it comes to the loading operation, by means of the locomotive the belt conveyor is positioned coinciding the rear end of the belt conveyor with the loading point, the locomotive being stopped, the loading operation and the movement of the belt begins, until it is completely filled with the bulk material, then the band stops and the locomotive is moved, dragging the belt conveyor structure and traveling all the way to the unloading point, upon reaching this, the locomotive stops and the movement of the conveyor belt begins to carry out the unloading operation.
Among the outstanding aspects of the system that is claimed is the following: Performs multiple functions that currently require the participation of several teams, mainly conveyor belt and rail, facilitating loading operations: (running with the "Train" stopped and the conveyor belt operating), transport: (running with the conveyor belt stopped and the "Train" operating) and discharge: (running again with the "Train" stopped and the conveyor belt operating). This avoids remanings that require complex installations, waste is avoided and time is saved. The above is translated into economy.
The parts of which a Transtren is manufactured are common parts and components in both the band conveyor and the rail car fields. One of the advantages of Transtren lies precisely in the operability derived from this easy to obtain components. On the other hand, it allows the specific design for the bulk material to be moved, that is, factors such as: specific gravity of the material, tonnage to move per hour or per day, length of the Transtren, width of the conveyor belt, speed are considered. of the train, distance to cover, etc.
The System for the Transport of Large Quantities of Bulk Materials of the present invention as previously expressed, presents a great flexibility in its operation, since for example to optimize the use of the operation of this system and in the routes that it could carry out The Transtren without load of material in bulk, can be coupled with this system other rail cars of different type, such as cars for passengers or for other uses.
