Description

ELECTRICAL SAFETY FOR FOOD WARMING APPLIANCE FIELD OF THE INVENTION [0001] The present invention relates to the general technical field of heating or food cooking apparatuses designed for the execution of frying in a particular oil bath. The present invention concerns a heating appliance for food, in particular for making frying in an oil bath, comprising a bowl mounted, for example, removably on a base, as well as heating means arranged under the bowl, which are associated with thermal regulation means and means for detecting the presence and filling of the bowl. The present invention relates more particularly but not exclusively to an electric fryer intended for the cooking of foods such as fried meat or fish, and has means for detecting the presence and / or filling of the bowl.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The means for detecting the presence and / or filling according to a minimum threshold of a bowl of a cooking vessel such as a fryer are already known. Most of the time, these means allow to control the heating means so that the latter can not be activated in certain previously determined cases. For example, it is necessary to prevent the heating element from activating when the bowl is not in place or when it is insufficiently full. In these two cases, it is necessary to ensure the user's safety and avoid all the damage that could be caused to the device. To carry out this control, devices of the known type use, for example, a drive means associated with a spring, aligned with a switch. The presence of the bowl and / or its weight carries a displacement of the drive means. The switch is activated in this way. The document CH 598 794 describes these means, in this case arranged in the same bowl support. The device does not on the other hand comprise a cover and its heating means are provided in the oil bath. DE-A-40 12 075 discloses an electric fryer having a removable bowl heated by at least one heating element disposed thereunder. The cooking takes place in an enclosed space thanks to the presence of a cover. The fryer on the other hand comprises monitoring means cooperating with the bowl. However, these devices have certain limitations that make their use on certain types of cooking appliances impossible if it is necessary to make an apparatus that offers an optimal guarantee of safety to the user. Furthermore, in the case where the fryer has a hermetic joint at the interface of the cover and the base, as well as the means allow to compress said union between the cover and the bowl after the lock to obtain a hermetically sealed cooking enclosure. At the level of the peripheral edge of the bowl, a cover lock with compression of the joint would be able to drag the drive of the drive means. Thus, in the case where such an organ would be used as the sole means of actuating the switch, as is the case with devices of the known type, situations would be known where the power supply circuit would be closed after the lock of the cover, and this despite the absence of the bowl or even with an empty or insufficiently full bowl. This dangerous situation can be avoided thanks to the present invention.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION According to the invention, a second driving means is provided, which has as its object that the actuation of the first means by accidental cause or due to the compression of the hermetic joint of the cover, which, after the lock is supported against the first means, it is without effect on the actuation of the switch. Indeed, in that case, the lock of the cover carries the displacement of the second actuating member, actuated for example by a lift or a contact provided on the cover. This second organ then inhibits the action of the first actuating member and the power supply circuit is left open, thus avoiding to connect the heater after the bowl was removed to clean it, or also when it is not sufficiently full. On the other hand, the device according to the present invention is compact, inexpensive, simple and very reliable, which is imperative taking into account the role of the device with respect to the safety of the user. The object assigned to the invention aims to realize a heating device whose electric power is automatically cut off when the bowl is not sufficiently full, so that operation of the vacuum apparatus is prevented. The object assigned to the invention also aims to realize a heating apparatus comprising a removable bowl and whose electrical power is automatically cut off when the bowl is not present in the base of the apparatus. Another object of the invention is to provide a heating device that has a high operational reliability, especially with respect to overheating due to a vacuum heating or to the risk linked to the absence or to the small amount of cooking cofactor. The operating safety must also be understood as a safety with respect to the negligent use of an apparatus according to the invention, which consists, for example, of using a bowl other than the original bowl in the base. A supplementary object of the invention "is intended to perform in a simple and inexpensive way, a heating apparatus that ensures high operational reliability." The objects assigned to the invention are achieved with the help of a cooking appliance comprising a base on which a bowl, intended for cooking food, heating means, in thermal relation with the bowl, detecting means are integrated, able on the one hand to detect if the bowl is substantially empty and in that case open the power supply circuit of the bowl. the heating means and on the other hand to detect if the bowl is full so that it reaches a previously established minimum weight, in order to then close the electric supply circuit of the heating means, characterized in that the bowl is removable and because the detection means comprise a first actuator driven by the bowl when the latter is in its place At the base, and a second actuating member actuated by the cover of the apparatus when the cover is closed over the bowl, said second actuating member is able to act in a manner that inhibits the action of the first actuating member when the bowl is not is in place at the base or when the bowl does not reach the previously determined minimum weight.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear more in detail with the reading of the description that follows with reference to the attached drawings, given by way of illustrative and non-limiting examples in which: Figure 1 represents a view partial and in perspective of a mounting example of the detection means in an apparatus according to the invention. Figures 2a and 2d represent the different positions of the detection means of the apparatus according to the invention. Figure 2e shows a sectional view of the detection means provided in the apparatus according to the invention. Figure 3 represents a variant embodiment of the detection means of the apparatus according to the invention.
Figure 4 represents a sectional view of a variant embodiment of the detection means of the apparatus according to the invention. Figure 5 shows a sectional view of an example of mounting the detection means in an apparatus according to the invention when the cover is closed.
PREFERRED MODE OF THE INVENTION Figure 1 represents a partial and perspective view of a mounting example of the detection means 30 in a fryer, the latter having a bowl 1 provided in a base 2. The bowl 1 has a peripheral edge rolled up the upper part that allows it to activate the detection means 30. The bowl 1, intended to receive the food for cooking, or the cooking cofactor, thus presents the peripheral edge rolled which allows it to rest at least in part on the base 2. The fryer also has heating means in thermal relation with the bowl 1 at least when said fryer is in operation. The detection means 30, shown in particular in FIG. 2e, are able to close or open the electric supply circuit of the heating means when the removable bowl 1 is respectively present or absent in the base 2. The detection means 30 are equally suitable, when the removable bowl l is present, on the one hand to detect whether the bowl 1 is empty; in that case, the electric power circuit is opened, or on the other hand to detect if the removable bowl 1 is filled so that it reaches a previously established minimum weight; in that case the electric power circuit of the heating means is closed. Advantageously, the detection means 30 are provided with a box 31 having two substantially parallel main surfaces, between which are the elements constituting the means 30. The box 31 is on the other hand provided in the base 2. The means of detection 30 comprise at least one drive means or transmission member 10 driven by the bowl 1 when the latter is in place in the base 2, a weigher 32 movable between a retracted position in contact with the transmission member 10 and when less a working position in which said weigher 32, driven by the transmission member 10, rests on a button 35 of a switch 36 of the electrical supply circuit of the heating means. The switch has electrical connections 37, 38 that pass from the box 31 to be connected to the electrical supply circuit of the heating means.
Advantageously, the detection means 30 have a second drive or transmission member 20 driven by a cover 3 of the apparatus when the cover 3 is closed over the bowl 1. The second transmission member 20 also acts on the weigher 32 to inhibit the action of the first transmission member 10 when the bowl 1 is not in place in the base 2, or when the bowl 1 does not reach the previously determined minimum weight. Advantageously, the actuating members 10, 20 are constituted of rigid rods projecting out of the box 31 at one of their ends. These driving elements 1020 are moved by translation and are guided by guiding means 31 a, 31 b, which may be constituted, for example, by rods arranged on either side of the translation axis of the members 10 and 20 so that they can run freely. In the exemplary embodiment shown, these means form part of the body of the box 31. The actuating members 10, 20 move between a working position acting on the weigher 32 and a rest position with a flange 10a, 20a, supported against the inner part of the box 31. In this second position the weigher 32 is not actuated. In the absence of an action or a force exerted on the end of the actuating members 10, 20, projecting out of the box 31, said actuating members 10, 20 are maintained in their rest position by means of the means of elastic recoil 11, 21, such as springs in compression. The latter are interposed, for example, between the guiding means 31a, 31b and the flanges 10a, 20a of the transmission members 10, 20, allowing these transmission members 10, 20 to be locked against the box 31 in their rest position. The weigher 32 shown in FIG. 2e is a mechanical part, which has on the one hand a guide groove 32b, traversed by a fixed axis 33 and on the other hand two support arms 32d, 32c distributed around the axis 33 to be in relation respectively with the transmission members 20, 10, so that they are respectively driven by the transmission members 20, 10. The axis 33, perpendicular to the axes of the members 10 and 20 is advantageously provided in the extension of these axes, between they, so as to join the two main surfaces of the box 31. The shaft 33 is thus advantageously integrated into the box 31 and authorizes the weigher 32 to move either by translation in the direction of the guide throat 32b, either by rotation around axis 33, either by a combination of these two movements. In addition, the weigher 32 is held in its retracted position by means of a return member 34, such as a spring in tension, when none of the transmission members 10, 20 is actuated. The return position of the weigher 32 corresponds substantially to the rest positions of the transmission members 10 and 20. The return member 34 is advantageously fixed on said weigher 32, for example at an outer end of the throat 32b, and on the box 31, for example near the wall of the box, between the members 10 and 20, by any known means. The translation movement of the weigher is both guided by the guide groove 32b and by means such as a rib 31c, integrated into one of the surfaces of the box 31, and oriented substantially parallel to the axis of the transmission member 20. The rib 31c in particular allows the weigher 32 and more precisely that the support arm 32d to be aligned substantially along the axis of movement of the member 20, in the immediate vicinity or more in contact with it, while the first transmission member 10 it does not act on the weigher 32. On the contrary, the weigher 32 is animated by a rotation movement about the axis 33 to rest on the button 35 ordering the opening and the lock of the supply circuit of the heating means when the first transmission member 10. It is only the oscillation or pivoting of the weigher 32 which allows the support on the button 35. Thus, when the second transmission member 20, that is to say that it rests on the support arm 32d of the weigher 32, the latter moves by translation, and in particular the support arm 32c moves downwards, a sufficient distance to prevent any contact of said support arm 32c with the first transmission member 10, thus preventing a pivoting of the weigher 32 when said first transmission member is driven after the second transmission member 20 (figure 2d). further, when the first transmission member 10 is actuated, in order to make the weigher 32 oscillate, the support arm 32d oscillates in a position such that the support arm 32d is not in relation to the second transmission member 20 (figures 2a and 2c). Such a situation corresponds to a start-up of the heating means by the button 35 and the switch 36 which are operated by the weigher 32 independently of the position of the second transmission member 20 and consequently of the cover 3. The apparatus complies the invention is capable of being used with the cover 3 closed or open for an outdoor cooking. Such cooking evidently supposes that the first transmission member 10 is actuated corresponding to the presence of the bowl 1 in the base 2 when the latter is removable and / or to the sufficient filling of said bowl 1 to present a predetermined minimum weight. This predetermined minimum weight is easily obtained with the aid of an elastic recoil means 11, for example a spring, which has a well-defined tension constant and consequently a certain thickness. The choice of this elastic recoil means 11 authorizes a displacement by translation of the first transmission member 10 sufficient to pivot the weigher 32 when the bowl 1 is present in the base 2 and when sufficiently filled preferably by a given minimum amount of product to fry. Thus, the shearing of the elastic return means 11 corresponds, for example, to the minimum amount of oil present in the bowl i. The weight of the filled bowl 1 makes it possible to operate the button 35. Such a design makes it possible to avoid an empty operation of the apparatus according to the invention and in particular of a fryer. Preferably, the detection means 30 are at least partially housed in the casing 31, integrated to the base 2 so as to have the ends of the transmission members 10, 20 protruding from the casing 31 to contact respectively the bowl l and the cover 3. On the other hand, the bowl 1 presents the peripheral edge rolled up on its upper part to allow said bowl 1 to rest on the base 2 and at least partially on the first transmission member 10. Conveniently, the cover 3 has a supplementary protrusion 3a integrated with the cover 3 to rest on the second transmission member 20 when the cover 3 is closed on the bowl 1. Conveniently, the second transmission member 20 has a sufficient course to displace the weigher 32 according to the direction of the guide throat 32b to avoid any contact between the support arm 32c and the first transmission member n 10 when the bowl l is empty or when the bowl l is absent from the base 2 (figures 2b and 2d). This conception is particularly interesting insofar as the frying-type apparatuses generally have at least one hermetic junction 60 at the interface of the cover 3 and the base 2, as well as the means that allow to compress said connection between the cover 3 and the bowl 1 after the lock to obtain a hermetic cooking enclosure at the level of the peripheral edge rolled up the bowl 1. A lock of the cover 3 with compression of said joint will be able to displace the first transmission member 10. Thus, in the case where such an organ is used as the sole means for actuating the switch, as is the case with devices of known type, situations would be known where the electric power circuit would be closed after the lock of the cover, and this despite the absence of the bowl or also with an empty or insufficiently full bowl. Such a dangerous situation can be avoided thanks to the present invention. According to the invention, a second actuating means 20 is provided, which has the effect that an actuation of the first means 10 by accidental cause or due to the compression of the sealing 60 of the cover, which, after its lock rests against the first means 10, has no effect on the operation of the switch. Indeed, in that case, the lock of the cover pulls the displacement of the second actuating member, driven for example by a protuberance 3a or a contact provided on the cover. This second organ then inhibits the action of the first actuating member and the electric supply circuit remains open, thus avoiding connecting the heater when the bowl is removed for cleaning, or also when it is not sufficiently full (Figure 5). In effect, the displacement of the transmission member 10 is without effect on the weigher 32 after the latter is again in its low position, that is to say, its working position, which is obtained by the displacement of the second transmission member. 20 resting on the support arm 32d, said second transmission member 20 is actuated by the protrusion 3a. Such a situation is represented in Figure 2d. All electrical power of the heating means is thus impossible if the bowl 1 does not reach its predetermined weight. According to a variant embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention, the cover 3 is removable so that an outdoor cooking appliance is realized. The apparatus is constituted for example by a fryer. According to another variant embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention, the bowl 1 is integrated to the base 2, thus having a mobility in front of the base 2 sufficient to drive the first transmission element 10. The base 2 also has the openings 2a and 2b which are traversed respectively by the ends of the transmission members 20, 10. According to a variant embodiment of the "apparatus according to the invention shown in Figure 3, the detection means 30 comprise a switching mechanism 40 composed of at least three different moving parts with respect to each other. The switching mechanism 40 is constituted by a support element 41 which is put in relation with the transmission members 10, 20, of a truck 42 that supports the support element 41 and movable by translation according to the direction of movement of the transmission members 10, 20, as well as the switch 36 mounted on the truck 42. The support element 41 also has on its upper part a supporting edge 41a which comes into contact with the button 35 of the switch 36. The support element 41 is mounted on the rotation on the truck 42. Thus a pivoting or oscillation of the support element 41 allows the button 35 to be operated. The support element 41 is pivotable with respect to the truck 42 by means of a pivot shaft 50, arranged substantially in the extension of the second transmission member 20 so as to prevent any pivoting of the support element 41 when the second transmission member 20 exerts a force on said element. Support 41. To this end, a lateral edge 42a can be provided on the truck 42 so as to constitute a stop for the support element 41. The bearing area of the second transmission member 20 can then be offset more with respect to the axis of pivoting 50, so that the bearing element 41 undergoes an oscillating force applied on the support element 41. The rotation of the latter is prevented by the lateral edge 42a. Thus, when the second transmission member 20 is actuated, it exerts a pressure on the support element 41 which itself pulls the truck 42 downwardly compressing a compression spring 32e. The weak offset of the direction of displacement of the second transmission member 20 relative to the axis of rotation 50, as well as the presence of a side edge 42a which does the abutment work on the truck 42 prevents any pivoting of the support element 41 when the second transmission member 20 is actuated. The assembly constituting the switching mechanism 40 is thus displaced downwards without exerting pressure on the button 35 of the switch 36. Such a situation corresponds, for example, to the lock of the cover 3 of the fryer according to to the invention in the absence of the bowl 1 in the base 2 or in the presence of an empty or insufficiently filled bowl. On the contrary, when the first transmission member 10 is actuated, it exerts a force on the support element 41 in an area offset with respect to the pivot axis 50 and located on the opposite side of the lateral edge 42a. The pressure exerted on the support element 41 thus causes its pivoting as well as the actuation of the button 35 of the switch 36. The support element 41 is no longer in abutment against the lateral edge 42a. The pivoting of the support element 41 also makes it possible to carry out the trajectory of the second transmission member 20 and consequently close the cover 3 of the fryer without interrupting the electrical connection obtained by operating the button 35. It conveniently removes it from the medium of elastic recoil 11 is carried out in such a way as to prevent the button 35 from being activated when only the bowl 1 rests on the first transmission member 10 by its empty weight. When the empty bowl 1 is placed in the base 2 and when the user closes the cover 3 on the bowl 1, the displacement of the second transmission member 20, and consequently the switching means 40, prevents any actuation of the button 35 and thus the start-up of the heating means.
The maximum and minimum dimensions and courses of the transmission members 10, 20 as well as the dimensions of the switching mechanism 40 or of the weigher 32 are easily determined by experiment. The operation of the detection means according to the invention is as follows. When the user closes the cover 3 on the base 2 of the fryer in the absence of the bowl 1, (figure 2b), the heating means are not capable of being electrically powered. This is obtained by the second transmission member 20. When the user places the bowl 1 in the base in its place, and when said bowl 1 is empty, or has a weight lower than a previously determined minimum value, (FIG. 2d), the displacement of the first transmission member 10 is not sufficient to operate the button 35 of the switch 36.
The heating means are not electrically powered, regardless of the opening or lock of the cover 3. When the user fills the bowl 1 with cooking oil or food, so that the said bowl 1 has a weight greater than the value previously determined, the first transmission member 10 exerts a pressure on the button 35 which thus allows the heating means to be electrically powered, and this regardless of the opening or lock of the cover 3 (Figures 2a and 2c). The detection means according to the present invention are particularly adapted, but not exclusively, to be used in fryers that have, on the one hand, a removable bowl 1 and on the other hand a hutch that surrounds the removable bowl 1 and the heating means provided. at the bottom of the hiring. Thus, figure 2a corresponds to a fryer having a bowl 1 filled with its cover 3 open, while figure 2c corresponds to the case where the cover 3 is closed on the bowl 1 of the same fryer. Figure 2b corresponds to the case where the cover 3 closes on the base 2 in the absence of the bowl 1, and figure 2d corresponds to the case where the cover 3 is closed on the base 2, provided with its bowl 1, which is empty or insufficiently full. According to another embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention, represented for example in FIG. 4, the detection means 30 comprise a truck 42 associated with a return spring 32e, said truck 42 being on one side displaced at least in translation by the cover 3 of the apparatus after said cover 3 rests on the truck 42 to prevent a contact means from feeding the heating means when the bowl 1 is absent or when the bowl 1 reaches a weight below the previously established minimum weight. The contact means comprises a support piece 43 movably mounted on rotation on the truck 42 and driven by the peripheral edge wound when said bowl 1 is present in the base 2 and reaches the previously established minimum weight. Thus, when the bowl 1 is absent or does not reach the previously established minimum weight for oscillating the support piece 43, the protrusion 3a supported on the support piece 43 so as to move the truck 42 by translation, thus preventing any actuation of the button 35. An eventual compression of the cover 3 on the bowl 1 after the lock is no longer able to operate the button 35 when the truck 42 moves downwards. In addition, the support piece 43 is associated with a shimming spring 50 fixed on a wall 43a of the support piece 43, and on the box 31 containing the detection means 30, so as to return the support piece 43 to a position opening the switch 36 of the supply circuit of the heating means when the bowl 1 is either absent, or present in the base with a weight below the previously established minimum weight. Conveniently, the cover spring 50 is mounted on the box 31, by a hole 51 provided in said box 31 and with an arrangement means 52 for the tension of the cover spring 50. According to other embodiments of the apparatus according to the invention , not shown in the figures, the detection means 30 are constituted, for example, by a ball switch that allows to establish or cut an electrical contact without being in vertical position. Such a switch can, in a known manner, be mounted in the box 31. The detection means 30 can also be constituted by optical or magnetic means that allow determining the position of the bowl 1 in the base 2 and consequently determine its degree of filling . Advantageously, these detection means 30 may be associated with a microprocessor intended to pilot the heating means. An advantage of an apparatus having the detection means according to the invention resides in the use of simple mechanical means when the bowl 1 is removable or fixed. Another advantage of the apparatus according to the invention results from the detection means constituting the safety means of operation of said apparatus.
POSSIBILITIES OF INDUSTRIAL APPLICATION The invention finds its industrial application in the manufacture of food cooking devices by immersion in an oil bath, and in particular in the manufacture of electric fryers.
