Description

BROOM AND METHOD TO MAKE A BROOM BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention The present invention relates to improvements in brooms wherein the broom head is made separate from the handle. More particularly, the invention relates to a novel broom having a broom head including a broom head sleeve and method for making a broom employing the broom.
Related Technique The technique of making brooms is very extensive, including thousands of designs for different purposes. Brooms commonly include a handle and broom head that has a plurality of waste collection fibers. The fibers are arranged in rows in a direction lengthwise side by side and are joined together and attached to the handle directly or to a head which is then fixed to the handle. To save on packing, shipping and storage space costs, various designs have been said for broom heads and separate handles. This is desirable to the consumer due to reasons that the consumer may only need the replacement of a worn broom head or a broken handle.
However, the technique of making conventional mango handle brooms are broom corn fibers sewn wound to the handle has remained popular and relatively unchanged. This is due to the fact that said manufacturing equipment is relatively simple and provides a consumer with an economical product. In making such brooms, the broom corn fibers are placed adjacent to one end of the handle to become the broom head and a lining piece is adhered through the broom corn fibers to the end of the broom handle. wood. A rotating collar in a clockwise direction is attached to the other end of the wooden handle and the handle is rotated to pull the winding around the broom corn fibers in a manner to secure the broom corn fibers to the handle where one end The winding terminal is stapled or adhered to the wooden handle. There is the desire and need to continue making this type of broom, however having a broom and handle head standing, and due to the stated reasons, use the conventional broom making equipment to achieve the same. Additionally, it is desired that broom handles be made from other materials, such as metal or plastic, and be integrated into the conventional broom manufacturing process. At the present time, these methods or devices are not available to achieve this satisfactorily.
BRIEF COMPENDIUM OF THE INVENTION One object is to improve brooms. Another object is to improve the manufacture of brooms. One object is to solve the need described above by providing a broom-type mazí brush with a detachable head and handle. Other objects and advantages will become readily apparent to those experienced in the field after viewing the drawings and reading the detailed description below.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Figure 1 shows a cross section of a broom handle of the present invention. Figure 2 shows an arrow for use in the method of the present invention. Figure 3 shows the sleeve of Figure 1 disposed on the axis of Figure 2 which is attached to a collar with a threaded ring bolt for use in the present invention. Figure 4 shows the winding around the broom corn fibers that are being fixed to the sleeve. Figure 5 shows the winding around the broom corn fibers that have been fixed to the sleeve to form a broom head. Figure 6 is a cross section of the sleeve, shaft and bolt on line 6-6 in Figure 5.
Figure 7 shows a wooden handle isneled towards the broom head illustrated in Figure 5 to form a sc.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Referring to the drawings, the present invention includes a generally cylindrical sleeve 10 for use in a novel method for making a corn broom type broom rolled. As seen in Figure 1, the sleeve 10 is preferably made of material, such as moldable plastic. The sleeve 10 has a first end 12 defining an open surface 14 extending axially therethrough and second end 16 defining a front threaded open surface 18 extending axially therethrough and in connection with the surface 14 open from the first end 12. The first end 12 has integrally formed on an external surface thereof a bolt 13 having a head 15 for having the wire 40 as described below. The second tremum 16 has a perforated surface 20 extending radially therethrough. The external diameter of the first end 12 is slightly larger than the external diameter of the second ext, thus forming a shoulder 21 between them. The open surfaces 14 and 18 are configured to receive an end 22 of the shaft 24, as seen in Figure 2, end 26 of a broom 28 as seen in Figure 7. Each of the ends 22 and 26 have a 30 and 32 threaded front surface, respectively, to be threaded to the threaded surface 18. The shaft 24 is made of any suitable material, such as metal or plastic, to carry out the invention. The shaft 24 has an end 34 which is fixedly connectable to a motorized rotary coil 36, as seen in Figure 3, where the collar 36 is connectable to a power source (not shown) to allow the shaft 24 it is rotated in conventional dextrógir direction. The end 30 has a threaded surface 31 open to receive a threaded ring bolt 33 for obvious reasons below and a washer 35 is also provided by preventing damage to the sleeve 10 when the winding process is carried out. The washer 35 has a slightly larger opening than a threaded portion 37 of a ring bolt 33 for reclosing therethrough but smaller than the ring bolt head 39. In carrying out the invention, the sleeve 10 is threadedly connected to the shaft 24 which in turn is connected to the collar 36. Since the collar 36 is engaged to rotate in a clockwise direction, the threaded portion 37 of the ring pin 33 is inserted through the opening of the washer 35 and surface 18 open and threaded to the threaded opening 31. The ring bolt 33 is threaded to seal the sleeve 10 tightly against the shaft 24 and prevent unscrewing from one another during the winding process. The washer 35 is provided between the ring bolt 33 and the end 20 to prevent any deflection of the end 20 by the ring bolt head 39. As seen in Figure 4, one end 38 of the winding wire 4 is passed through the perfet surface 20 and is tied to secure the end 38 to the sleeve 10. The broom corn fibers 42 are placed adjacent to the sleeve 10. While the wire 40 is retained in a feeding manner, the collar 36 is activated to cause rotation of the sleeve in a clockwise direction. The front axle 24 is prevented from being pulled out or away from the sleeve 10 during the winding process as described above. As the sleeve 10 rotates, the wire 40 wraps around the broom mai 42 to tightly bind the same to the second end 16. The initial winding proceeds to the shoulder 21 where a portion of the broom corn 44, as seen in Figure 7, it is left unlinked. The winding continues around the remainder of the broom maize 42 at the first end 12 of the sleeve 10 to a terminal point 46 of the sleeve 10. At this point, s stops the rotation of the collar 36 and in turn the sleeve. The integrally formed blind 13, placed adjacent to the terminal point is wrapped with a peice 50 of the wire 40 and tied. The head 15 prevents the wire 40 from sliding away from the bolt 13. Any remaining wire 40 beyond the part 50 can be cut.
At this point, the ring bolt 33 and the washer 35 are removed. The newly formed broom head 56 is screwed on the shaft 24 and threaded into the sleeve 28 to form a scan 58 contemplated by the present invention. The above-described embodiments are set forth by way of example and are not for the purpose of limiting the present invention. It will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art that modifications and obvious variations to the embodiment can be made without departing from the scope of the invention. Accordingly, the claims appended hereto should be read in full scope, including any such modifications and variations.
