Abstract
The present invention relates to a multi-stage fastener device to be used within a strapping machine to hold a guide end portion of a strap with different degrees of force during a strapping cycle, comprising: an anvil; end adjacent the anvil to define in space between these within which a guide end portion of a strap can be disposed, and a cam device having a plurality of cam surfaces for operatively attaching and driving the end fastener device to the anvil with different degrees of force during a strapping cycle to cooperate respectively with the anvil to establish a relatively high clamping force, whereby the guide end portion of the strip is firmly secured between the end clamping device and the anvil when a first cam surface of the cam device is attached with the extrusion fastener device emo, a second reduced fastener force by which the guide end portion of the strap can be retained between the end fastener device and the anvil with a relatively small force, but also easily removed from the space defined between the anvil and the end fastener device , when a second cam surface of the cam device is joined with the end fastener device, and a third substantially null clamping force by which the guide end portion of the strap is allowed to be inserted essentially free in, and removed from , the space defined between the anvil and the end fastener device when a third cam surface of the cam device is joined to the end fastener device

Fever Machine BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention: The present invention relates to the fastening of one end of the strap before and during the tension phase of the locking cycle of the strapping machine. More particularly, the present invention relates to multiple clamping forces, holding one end of the strap before and during the tension phase of the beating cycle of the strapping machine. Description of the Related Art: In the past, the strapping machines were able to exert a simple, generally high-level clamping force at the leading end of a strap to secure the end of the strap during the loosening and tension elimination phase , prior to the sealing of the strap, of the cycle of the strapping machine. In any case, the application of a greater clamping force to the end of the strap during the rest phase of the felting cycle, prior to the tension phase, increases the difficulty of pulling the fastener strap out if necessary, to clear a jammed strap, change the strap, or rewind the strap roll. This and other problems of the prior art are solved by the invention disclosed herein. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is the purpose of the present invention to provide an end clamping device which allows easy removal of the main end of the strap from a clamping device. Another purpose is to provide a device with two end clamping forces which exerts a greater clamping force at the main end of a strip for the tension phase, and a reduced clamping force for the rest phase of the strapping cycle , prior to the tension phase. An additional purpose is to provide a two-force device in the end clamp which exerts a reduced clamping force at the leading end of a strap to prevent the rebounding strip from a sense-determining lever after having contact with the lever .
These and other purposes of the invention are satisfied by the apparatus and method disclosed herein. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Figure 1 is a sectional view of the present invention in the insertion phase. Figure 2 is a sectional view of the present invention in the rest phase. Figure 3 is a sectional view of the present invention of the voltage phase. Figure 4 is a side view of a three position cam of the present invention. Figure 5 is a side view of a four position cam of the present invention. DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED INCORPORATIONS The clamping apparatus is shown in Figure 1 in the presucking stage of the strapping cycle. An end clamp 1 in communication with a clamping spring 2 is driven by a force acting on the cam carrier 14. The clamping cam 6 is rotatable to present various surfaces of the cam to the cam carrier. A clamping tooth 3 can be disposed at one end of the end clamp terminal 1. An anvil 4 is positioned adjacent the end clamp 1 in a manner that allows a main end of the strip 7 to be inserted through the strip path 21 between the anvil 4 and the end clamp 1. The anvil 4 includes a recess anvil 5 which stores a lever for determining the direction of the limit of the strip 8. A separation of the anvil tooth 11 in the anvil 4 receives the tooth fastener 3 during the clamping phase and can receive the clamping tooth partially during the rest phase. The strip separator 12 adjacent the anvil 4 and the end clamp 1 receives the strip in an integral path of the strip in the separator 12. In Figure 2, the end fastener 1 is shown in a low or flexible position of the fastener, wherein the main end of the strap 7 has traveled to and caused the limit determination lever 8 to travel. The strapping machine is in a resting phase of the strapping cycle at this point. The clamping cam 6 has at this time been rotated to push a particular surface of the cam 6 against the support of the cam 14, which moves the end clamp 1 against the strap in a way that stops the strap in place. , but that allows the separation of the strap without the need to reposition the end bra. This form of fastening eliminates the problem of rewinding or rebounding the strap after the leading end of the strap 7 contacts the limit sensing lever 8. Even, an operator of the machine can easily clear the strap of the fastener of the machine. end 1 during this phase, due to the carefully adjusted condition of the flexible fastener carried out by the device. This facilitates the procedures of clearing in sticking of the strip, change of strap, and winding of the strip roll. Figure 3 shows the end bracket 1 in the tension phase. The clamping cam 6 has been rotated to push a particular surface of the cam 6 against the direction of the cam 14, which moves the end clamp against the strap in a manner that stops the strap in a semi-permanent position. The clamping tooth 3 is pushed against the strap, pushing a segment of the strap into the cavity of the cam tooth, firmly holding the strap in place. The strap in this phase will remain clamped while the strapping machine executes the tension phase. Figure 4 shows an embodiment of the clamping cam 6. The first cam surface 15 is driven against the direction of the cam 14 only prior to and during the tension phase. The second cam surface 16 is urged against the direction of the cam 14 during the rest or initial position phase of the strapping cycle, providing a flexible fastener condition. Figure 5 shows another embodiment of the clamping cam 6. The seventh cam surface 22 is pushed against the direction of the cam 14 during the tension phase. The fourth cam surface 18 is pushed against the direction of the cam 14 during the strip feeding phase. The fifth cam surface 19 is pushed against the direction of the cam 14 during the period in which the strap is to be held in a flexible fastener condition, to briefly prevent for example, the rebound of the main end of the strap. Subsequently, the sixth cam surface 20 is biased against the direction of the cam 14, by lowering the end fastener 1 to release the force of the fastener. Then, only before and even during the tension phase, the seventh cam surface 22 is urged against the direction of the cam 14. The present invention even encloses the extension of equivalents to which it is entitled, and is to be limited only for the following demands.
