Abstract
The present application relates to a resealable pack for wipes, preferably disposable wipes. The pack comprises an opening specifically located so as to permit easy access to and removal of the wipes from the pack. The pack is also specifically designed so as to be at least 1.16 times larger than the wipe in either the x- or y-dimension.
Description
Flexible packages are designed to be used as such or are designed to be placed inside reclosable boxes. The flexible package is easy to produce using packaging technology and uses less raw material than the box and reduces costs for the manufacturer, the consumer and the environment. The opening of a flexible package, such as those described above, is generally provided by a perforated area on one side of the package that the consumer must open before use. Said flexible packages can be made with reclosable openings, wherein the removable opening area of the package is covered with an adhesive film that extends beyond the opening, such that the adhesive film can be used as an adhesive label to close the package. The packages of the present invention are specifically designed for use in the packaging and dispensing of dry or essentially dry cloths. Dry cloths are stiffer than the average wet cloth and are therefore less easy to handle. When such packages are used with wet cloths, the opening is made as small as possible and the consumer must pinch the cloth to be able to grab it and remove it from the package. The cloth is folded, necessarily, from the point where it is pinched so that it can be removed from the package through the opening. However, the cloths for which this package is designed are less flexible than standard wet cloths. You can not grasp them by pinching or bending, so it is difficult to remove them from the package.
Therefore, applicants have designed the present package to be able to accommodate such less flexible wipes. The packages of the present invention have a larger size compared to the cloths they contain. The extra size of the package in front of the cloth allows a maneuverability of the cloth inside the package. Therefore the cloth can be maneuvered inside the package to make a cloth edge available in the opening. The opening of the package is located in the part of the body in such a way that an edge of the cloth contained therein can be easily accessed through the opening.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In accordance with the present invention there is provided a package for at least substantially dispensing the dry cloths 7, having a body part 1 defining a cavity receiving an article and having an opening 3, characterized in that the package comprises at least one essentially dry cloth 7, said portion of the body 1 is at least 1.16 times longer than the cloth in dimension x or y. In accordance with the present invention there is also provided a package for dispensing at least essentially dry cloths having a part of the body 1 composed of two horizontal and two longitudinal sides, which define a cavity that receives an article and which has been provided with a opening 3, characterized in that the package comprises at least one essentially dry cloth 7 having at least two longitudinal and two horizontal edges and said part of the body 1 is at least 1.16 times as long as at least the horizontal edge or the vertical of the cloth contained in it.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the package of the present invention that also shows a stack of 3 cloths contained in the package. Figure 2 is a perspective view of the cloth contained within the package of the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The packages of the present invention are generally formed of plastic materials, for example, a polyethylene film, a polypropylene film or a sheet consisting, for example, of polyethylene or polypropylene layers. The body part 1 is preferably formed by a single sheet of plastic material sealed at its ends by the end seams 2 and a longitudinal seam on the face of the part of the body that does not contain the opening (the reverse side), not shown in Figure 1). Preferably the package is essentially in the same way as the cloths contained therein. More preferably, the packages are rectangular in shape. An opening 3, preferably an elongated opening 3 is defined in the part of the body 1. The opening 3 can be placed in the middle of one of the faces of the body part 1 or it can be located on two sides of the package, it is say, on an edge of the package. The opening 3 is preferably generally rectangular in shape, preferably with rounded edges 4 to avoid the formation of sharp corners which may not be useful in relation to the removal of the cloths from the package or causing an injury to the user. The opening 3 is located at a point of the part of the body 1 such that an edge of the cloth 7 can be accessed through the opening 3. In said embodiment the part of the body 1 comprises two shorter horizontal sides and two more longitudinal sides long Preferably, the opening 3 is similar to the part of the body 1, it is preferably located in the part of the body 3 parallel to the horizontal or longitudinal sides. In said embodiment the opening 3 therefore exposes a longitudinal or horizontal edge of the cloth 7 contained therein. The opening 3 is covered by a sealing member 5 which adheres to seal the body part 1 around the perimeter of the opening 3 by means of an adhesive, for example, an acrylic or rubber based adhesive. The seal is provided over the entire area where the sealing member 5 is above the body part 1, except for a tongue 6 at one end of the sealing member. This tongue 6 provides a location where the user can grasp the sealing member 5. It is necessary even for a small opening 3 to provide a comparatively greater sealing member 5, since the latter must extend beyond the first around the perimeter of the seal. 3 opening if you must provide the requirement to seal. The material of the sealing member 5, ie, the substrate to which the adhesive is applied, can be for example, a polypropylene film, or a sheet of paper and polypropylene, paper and polyethylene or polyethylene and polypropylene. Where a two-ply sheet including paper is used, the adhesive is advantageously applied to the paper. By using the package the user grasps the tongue 6 and pulls the sealing member 5 away from the body part 1 to expose the opening 3. A cloth 7 is removed from the package and the sealing member 5 is again placed on the opening 3 , sealing the package again. The part of the body 1 can be described in terms of the dimensions x, y and z. The dimension z is defined as the dimension shown by the stack of cloths 7 contained within said body part 1. The dimensions x and y are therefore the dimensions shown by the length and width of the cloth. The part of the body 1 is at least 1.16 times longer than the cloth 7 in any dimension x or y. Clearly the part of the body 1 is also 1.16 times longer than the cloth 7 in the dimension z - to accommodate the stack of cloths. Alternatively, the part of the body 1 can also be described as being at least 1.16 times longer than at least the horizontal or longitudinal side of the cloth 7 contained therein. The package therefore gives the impression of being larger than normal when compared to the cloth, being too wide or too long or both.
The package of the present invention comprises at least one cloth 7 at least essentially dry. More preferably, the package comprises a stack of said cloths. The stack may comprise 2-3 cloths for example 20 or 30 cloths. The cloth is preferably composed of several layers of substrate. Said substrates can preferably be selected from non-woven fabric materials composed of natural or synthetic fibers. Natural fibers include all those that are naturally available without being modified, regenerated or produced by man and are generated from plants, animals, insects or byproducts of plants, animals and insects. Preferred examples of natural fibers include keratin fibers and cellulosic fibers, including wood pulp, cotton, hemp, jute, flax and combinations thereof. Non-woven fabrics of natural materials, useful in the present invention, can be obtained from a wide variety of commercial sources. Non-limiting examples of suitable commercially available paper useful herein include Airtex®, an air-laid etched cellulosic having a basis weight of about 71 grams per square meter, available from James River, Green Bay, Wl; and Walkisoft®, an air-laid cellulosic print that has a basis weight of approximately 75 grams per square meter, available from Walkisoft U.S.A., Mount Holly, NC. As used herein, "synthetic" means that the materials are obtained primarily from various artificial materials or from natural materials that have been further modified. Examples of constraints of synthetic materials useful in the present invention include those selected from the group comprising acetate fibers, acrylic fibers, cellulose ester fibers, modacrylic fibers, polyamide fibers, polyester fibers, polyolefin fibers, polyvinyl alcohol fibers , rayon fibers and combinations of these. Examples of suitable synthetic materials include acrylics such as acrylon, creslain, and acrylonitrile-based fiber, orlon; cellulose ester fibers such as cellulose acetate, arnel, and accel; polyamides such as nylon (e.g., nylon 6, nylon 66, nylon 610, and the like); polyesters such as fortrel, kodel and polyethylene terephthalate fiber, polybutylene terephthalate fiber, dacron; polyolefins such as polypropylene, polyethylene; polyvinyl acetate fibers and combinations of these. These and other suitable fibers and the non-woven fabrics prepared therefrom are generally described in Riedel, "Nonwoven Bonding Methods and Materials," (Nonwoven Material Bonding Methods and Materials) Nonwoven World (1987); The American Encvclopedia (Encyclopedia Americana), vol. 11, pgs. 147-153, and vol. 26, pgs. 566-581 (1984); the U.S. patent no. 4,891, 227 Thaman et al., Issued January 2, 1990; and in U.S. Pat. no. 4.8928, each of which is incorporated in its entirety as a reference herein. In a preferred embodiment the cloth also comprises a network of abrasive fibers, otherwise known as gauze. By the term 'network' is meant a structure made directly from foundries of fibers that are at least 0.2 mm long and are joined together by systems other than hydrogen bonding. The fibers can be selected from metal, natural or synthetic cables, filaments or feet or mixtures thereof. Preferred fibers are selected from those of synthetic organic origin, more preferably of polymeric synthetic organic origin and thermoplastic polymers. The fibers are preferably selected from polyamide, polyethylene, polypropylene fibers and mixtures thereof. The cloth 7 preferably comprises a detergent composition.
More preferably said detergent composition is in the form of a paste and is applied to the cloth in strips 8. The substrate layers of the cloth 7 they are preferably joined together. With greater preference the substrate layers are thermally bonded at points to each other. In a particularly preferred embodiment the bonding pattern and strips of detergent paste encourages the cloth to fold or bend along particular bending lines. The bonding pattern and the detergent paste strips therefore both aid in removing the stiffer cloth from the package when the size of the opening is less than the length of the cloth accessed through the opening.
