Abstract
Un dispositivo para la iniciacion de un detonador electrico que utiliza un circuito abierto para disminuir los incidentes de detonacion accidental. El dispositivo puede incluir un alojamiento (12) del iniciador, al menos dos espigas (14) conductoras dispuestas a traves del alojamiento del iniciador y separadas dentro del alojamiento tal que cuando se aislan electricamente entre si, y se coloca un material (16) de mancha de carga iniciadora entre las espigas. El material de mancha de carga iniciadora puede estar comprendido de una mezcla de material reactivo y componente metalico. El material de mancha de carga iniciadora tiene propiedades electricas que proporcionan resistencia a la conduccion de una corriente electrica para mantener una condicion de circuito abierto antes de la aparicion de una interrupcion del voltaje que es dependiente de la cantidad de componente metalico en el material de mancha de carga iniciadora. Subsiguientemente, el material de mancha de carga iniciadora tiene propiedades electricas que proporcionan un medio conductor en la aparicion de un arco electrico entre las espigas conductoras, que surge a voltajes en exceso de la interrupcion del voltaje. Finalmente, las propiedades electricas son tales que el arco electrico proporciona energia para formar un plasma desde el material de mancha de carga iniciadora, llevando a la iniciacion del detonador.
