Abstract

Se describen un metodo y sistema para transferir el procesamiento de E/S de una primera computadora a una segunda computadora, utilizando interconexiones de red con capacidad RDMA. El metodo y el sistema incluyen un cliente en la primera computadora comunicandose a traves de una conexion RDMA con un servidor en la segunda computadora a traves de un protocolo de entrada/salida de peso ligero (LWIO). El protocolo generalmente comprende una fase de descubrimiento de la red seguida por una fase de procesamiento para las E/S. Durante la fase de descubrimiento, el cliente y el servidor determinan una lista minima de proveedores con capacidad RDMA compartida. Durante la fase de procesamiento de E/S, el cliente publica solicitudes E/S para transferirlas a la segunda maquina a traves de un canal RDMA mutuamente autentificado. El modelo E/S es asimetrico, con operaciones de lectura siendo implementadas utilizando RDMA y operaciones de lectura siendo implementadas utilizando envios normales. Las solicitudes de lectura y escritura pueden completarse en el modo de sondeo y en el modo de interrupcion. Los buferes se manejan a traves de una mecanismo.
