Abstract

Se da a conocer un sistema de bolsa de aire de impacto lateral de vehículos, en donde la bolsa de aire se localiza en un descansabrazos externo pivotalmente unido al asiento de un vehículo. Durante una colision, se libera un panel de cubierta localizado sobre una abertura del lado externo del descansabrazos, y la bolsa de aire se despliega hacia afuera a través de la abertura, alejándose del ocupante y contra la puerta del vehículo. De preferencia, la bolsa de aire llenada todo el espacio entre el ocupante y la puerta, con el objeto de proteger el torso, el cuello, y la cabeza del ocupante durante la colision. El sistema de la invencion se puede utilizar con una puerta verticalmente movible o con una puerta convencional.
