Abstract

Se describen mutantes de PAP que tienen fitotoxicidad reducida comparadas con PAP tipo silvestre y que confieren resistencia de amplio espectro a virus y/o hongos en plantas. Un grupo de mutantes de PAP se caracteriza por lo menos por una substitucion de aminoácidos en la terminacion N de PAP madura, tal como el residuo de glicina 75 o el residuo de ácido glutámico 97 dos grupos de mutantes de PAP adicionales se caracterizan por las truncaciones en la region de terminacion N de PAP madura y las truncaciones o substituciones de aminoácidos en la region de terminacion C de PAP madura respectivamente y un grupo adicional es enzimáticamente inactivo el cual aun exhibe propiedades antigénicas. También se describen moléculas de ADN que codifican las mutantes de PAP, construcciones de ADN de PAP mutantes y semillas y plantas transgénicas que contienen los ADN. Además se describen métodos para identificar mutantes de PAP que tienen fitotoxicidad reducida, así como mutantes de PAP aisladas y purificadas identificadas por el método.
