Abstract

La invencion proporciona un método de inhibir el relajamiento del giro nuclear inducido por superficie y el atrapamiento superficial de un gas noble hiperpolarizado, con la mayor preferencia 128XE, mediante superficies revestidas con polímero. El método incluye inhibir la magnitud de la interaccion del gas noble con un revestimiento polimérico sobre la superficie del aparato que hace contacto con el gas noble. De preferencia, el método incluye inhibir el relajamiento del giro nuclear del gas noble reemplazando al menos algunos de los protones en el polímero con sustituyentes que tiene giro nuclear diferente de cero y/o una permeabilidad polimérica reducida. Un sustituyente preferido que tiene giro diferente de cero es deuterio. Una modificacion preferida que reduce la permeabilidad incluye introducir en el polímero un sustituyente tal como un halogeno, con mayor preferencia fluor.
