Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a las fibras bicomponentes novedosas, que tienen un dominio de poliamida y un dominio de polímero amorfo no productor de fibras el cual se encuentra incrustado completamente dentro, por lo cual totalmente rodeado por, el dominio de poliamida. Las fibras bicomponentes preferidas tienen una estructura de nucleo-vaina en donde el dominio de poliamida constituye la vaina y el polímero amorfo no productor de fibras constituye el nucleo. De manera sorprendente, aunque el nucleo se forma de un polímero no productor de fibras, las fibras bicomponentes presentan propiedades comparables en muchos aspectos a las fibras que se forman de poliamida 100%. De preferencia, las fibras son fibras bicomponentes concéntricas con nécleo-vaina que tienen una vaina de nailon y un nucleo formado de poliestireno y polimetacrilato de metilo. Como dominio polimérico amorfo se prefiere el poliestireno y, particularmente, el poliestireno atáctico.
