Abstract

La invencion se refiere a un procedimiento para enfriar esponja de hierro caliente en briquetas; con el cual se evita el enfriamiento irregular e insuficiente, los esfuerzos térmicos y por lo tanto el descamado, caracterizado porque una primera etapa de enfriamiento gradual se hace a través de la esponja de hierro un medio gaseoso, preferiblemente aire de enfriamiento; en una segunda etapa, dicha esponja de hierro con un medio líquido de enfriamiento, preferiblemente agua, hasta la temperatura de enfriamiento final. La invencion también proporciona una disposicion para llevar a cabo dicho procedimiento, caracterizada por la combinacion de las siguientes características; una base permeable al gas para la esponja de hierro; un medio de conduccion de gas y; boquillas rociadoras.
