Abstract

Se provee un medio automatizado para hidratar un lente de contacto hidrofilo, moldeado, en el cual un primer ensamble robotico retira una pluralidad de moldes de lente de contacto de un portador de línea de produccion; cada uno de los moldes de lente tiene un lente de contacto adherido en él. El primer ensamble robotico transporta los moldes a una primera área de apilamiento, en donde los moldes de lente son emparedados entre un portamolde de lente y una placa de cámara superior, para formar un primer portador de hidratacion. Un primer dispositivo de transferencia rotatorio entrega entonces el primer portador de hidratacion a un segundo ensamble robotico que sumerge el primer portador de hidratacion en un baño de hidratacion para hidratar los lentes y para soltar los lentes del molde de lente. Mientras los lentes están sumergidos en el baño de hidratacion, se transfiere cada lente de su molde respectivo a un medio de transferencia de lente, que se encuentra dentro de la placa de cámara superior. Después de un periodo predeterminado de tiempo, el segundo ensamble robotico retira el primer portador de hidratacion del baño de hidratacion y entrega el portador de hidratacion a un segundo dispositivo de transferencia rotatorio que hace girar el primer portador de hidratacion y lo alinea para transferirlo a un tercer ensamble robotico. El tercer ensamble robotico lleva entonces la placa de cámara superior y los lentes de contacto a través de una serie de pasos en los cuales el portamolde de lente y los moldes de lente son retirados de la placa de cámara superior. Los lentes llevados en los medios de transferencia de lente son inundados entonces y transportados para su ensamble con un miembro de base de hidratacion para formar un segundo portador de hidratacion para procesar los lentes en estaciones subsecuentes de extraccion. El segundo portador de hidratacion es transportado entonces a través de una pluralidad de estaciones de inundacion o extraccion, en donde se introduce agua desionizada fresca en las cámaras de hidratacion, en cada estacion de hidratacion, para descargas las sustancias lixiviables desde la cámara de hidratacion. En cada estacion de inundacion se introduce agua desionizada fresca dentro de la cámara de hidratacion para eliminar las impurezas previamente extraídas y los productos de hidrolisis. Un dispositivo de desensamble robotico final separa la placa de cámara superior y el medio de transferencia de lente del miembro de base de hidratacion, para proveer lentes totalmente hidratados en un medio concavo sujetador de lente, listo para su transferencia a las estaciones de inspeccion y empaque.
