Abstract

Se describe una composicion policarbonato, poliéster o poliéstercarbonato, preparada a partir de una mezcla de reaccion que comprende por lo menos un diol y por lo menos un precursor de carbonato o un precursor de éter, en donde por lo menos el 95% molar del diol presenten en la mezcla de reaccion consiste de uno o más dioles aromáticos, por lo menos el 10% molar del cual consiste de uno o más estilbendioles. La composicion de la invencion ventajosamente tiene una resistencia térmica relativamente alta, temperatura de fusion, propiedades de tension y de flexion, y/o resistencia al agrietamiento térmico. Además, los polímeros de la invencion, los cuales son cristalinos líquidos termoplásticos también poseen ventajosamente una amplia escala de temperatura para la cristalinidad líquida, buena procesabilidad bajo fusion, un bajo coeficiente de expansion térmica, una alta resistencia a la ignicion, una alta resistencia al solvente, y/o buenas propiedades de barrera.
