Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a un aparato y a un método para establecer conexiones de telecomunicaciones de banda de voz utilizando el sistema de conmutacion/conexion cruzada (CCSS) para establecer todo o parte de los segmentos de conexiones requeridos para llamadas individuales. El CCSS contiene haces de trayectorias aprovisionadas y también tiene instalaciones para establecer trayectorias individuales por llamada, que no utilizan estos haces. Cuando una llamada se recibe, el CCSS conmuta la llamada a través de una combinacion de trayectorias aprovisionadas y no aprovisionadas. En la modalidad preferida, el CCSS es un conmutador de modo de transferencia síncrona (ATM), mejorado con convertidores para comunicarse con una instalaciones de modulacion de codigo de pulso (PCM), para comunicarse con otros conmutadores y con conmutadores PCM asociados.
