Abstract

Se proveen medios automatizados para hidratar un lente de contacto hidrofílico moldeado en los que un primer ensamble robotico remueve una pluralidad de moldes de lente de contacto desde un transportador de línea de produccion, cada uno de los moldes teniendo un lente de contacto adherido al mismo; el primer ensamble robotico transporta los moldes hacia una primera área de graduacion en donde los moldes de lente son intercalados entre un portador de molde del lente y una placa de cámara superior para formar una primer portador de hidratacion; un primer dispositivo de transferencia giratoria transporta el primer portador de hidratacion hacia un segundo ensamble robotico el cual sumerge el primer portador de hidratacion en un baño de hidratacion para hidratar los lentes y para liberar los lentes del molde del lente; en tanto que los lentes se sumergen en el baño de hidratacion, cada lente es transferido desde su molde respectivo hacia un medio de transferencia de lente que se encuentra dentro de la placa de cámara superior; después de un período predeterminado, el segundo ensamble robotico remueve el primer portador de hidratacion del baño de hidratacion y transporta el portador de hidratacion hacia un segundo dispositivo de transferencia giratoria el cual hace girar el primer portador de hidratacion y lo alinea para transferirlo a un tercer ensamble robotico; el tercer ensamble robotico transporta la placa de cámara superior y los lentes de contacto a través de una serie de etapas en las que el portador de molde de lente y los moldes de lente son removidos desde las placa de cámara superior; los lentes transportados sobre los medios de transferencia del lente son lavados y transportados después para ensamble con un miembro de base de hidratacion para formar un segundo portador de hidratacion para procesar los lentes en estaciones de extraccion subsecuentes. El segundo portador de hidratacion es transportado después a través de una pluralidad de estaciones de lavado o extraccion en donde se introduce agua desionizada fresca dentro de las cámaras de hidratacion en cada estacion de hidratacion para lavar las sustancias lixidiables a partir de la cámara de hidratacion; en cada estacion de lavado, se introduce agua desionizada fresca en la cámara de hidratacion para remover las impurezas previamente extraídas y los productos de la hidrolisis; un dispositivo de desensamble robotico final separa la placa de cámara superior y los medios de transferencia del lente desde el miembro de base de hidratacion, para proveer lentes completamente hidratados en un medio de soporte de lente concavo listo para transferirlos a estaciones de inspeccion y empaque.
