Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a un nuevo método de comunicaciones por modem, el cual proporciona interoperabilidad (capacidad de funcionamiento) entre modems y servicios de espera de llamadas. El método opera en conjunto con un primer modem adaptado para las comunicaciones con un segundo modem a través de un enlace de comunicaciones telefonicas. Al recibir un tono de alerta de espera de llamada, que corresponde a un llamada entrante de un tercer abonado, el primer modem envía al segundo modem una señal de notificacion de espera de llamada. En respuesta a la señal de notificacion de espera de llamada, el segundo modem envía al primer modem una señal de reconocimiento de espera de llamada, y el primer y segundo modems entran en un estado de reposo. En el estado de reposo los modems permanecen conectados al enlace de comunicaciones telefonicas pero dejan de enviar y recibir datos. El primer modem permanece en el estado de reposo que finaliza la llamada entrante del tercer abonado, después de lo cual, en respuesta a esa finalizacion, el primer modem envía al segundo modem una señal de reanudacion. Al recibir la señal de reanudacion, el segundo modem sale del estado de reposo y reanuda el envío y recepcion de datos.
