The present invention discloses a central bushing assembly, which includes a roller bushing adapted to rotatably receive and support a coupling axle, and a clamp adapted to be fastened on a vehicle chassis. A support member is provided for supporting the roller bushing inside the clamp. The support member includes a blister made out of elastomeric material. The blister comprises a rheologic fluid having a significant change in its flow and displacement capacity when a proper energy field is applied. Preferably, the blister comprises a magneto-rheologic magnetic fluid. By varying the energy supplied to an electromagnet placed adjacent the blister, the vibration buffering characteristics of said support member can be modified, depending on the vehicle operation conditions.
