Abstract

Se describen un sistema y un método para remover hidrocarburos de una mezcla gaseosa, que comprende seleccionar una pluralidad de agentes que son efectivos para adsorber hidrocarburos a temperaturas predeterminadas, en donde por lo menos dos de los agentes adsorbedores, las temperaturas a las cuales las velocidades de adsorción máximas para los hidrocarburos ocurren, son diferentes entre ellos, y se ponen en contacto los agentes adsorbedores con la mezcla gaseosa a temperaturas predeterminadas para ocasionar la adsorción de los hidrocarburos. Se describe un sistema de catalizador de tapas múltiples para convertir NOx, CO, e hidrocarburos de una mezcla gaseosa a productos inocuos, que comprende el sistema descrito anteriormente para remover hidrocarburos como una etapa, y una etapa de catalizador de cuerpo principal para convertir NOx, CO, e hidrocarburos a productos inocuos, en donde la mezcla gaseosa pasa de una etapa a la otra.
