Abstract
Se proporcionan métodos para descontaminar un material contaminado. En una modalidad, se activa un biocatalizador que digiere contaminantes de hidrocarburo con un nutriente y el biocatalizador activado se combina con el material contaminado y agua para formar una mezcla. La mezcla se incuba por un periodo de tiempo, y se determina el nivel de contaminante en la mezcla para determinar si se incuba adicionalmente, se agrega mezcla de biocatalizador adicional, o se proporciona el material descontaminado para procesamiento adicional. En una modalidad, se proporciona el material descontaminado para reutilizar o reciclar con un segundo material, tal como un agregado de construcción. El método es particularmente apropiado para descontaminando de cortes de perforación, relaves mineros, suelo contaminado con hidrocarburos, y similares.
