Abstract

Se divulga un método en el que se bombea el agua de manera continua en un extremo de un contenedor, los contaminantes se capturan y se flotan a la superficie, el agua tratada y limpiada fluye fuera del otro extremo y los contaminantes flotados se eliminan. En una realización, el sistema consiste de al menos un contenedor que tiene un grupo de placas activas de manera eléctrica y un mecanismo para capturar y eliminar los contaminantes que son flotados a la superficie mediante las placas activas de manera eléctrica. Múltiples contenedores se pueden conectar en serie y utilizar para propósitos similares o separados para eliminar los contaminantes. En otra realización, el contenedor solo se divide en un múltiplo de cámaras. Cada cámara se puede utilizar o para propósitos similares o separados, dicho propósito depende de la aplicación. En ambas realizaciones, la reacción primaria consiste de electrofloculación, en la que un voltaje bajo se aplica a través de un grupo de placas de metal. Esto libera iones metálicos y burbujas de gas. Los iones metálicos capturan los contaminantes y las burbujas de gas, flotándolos a la superficie. El proceso completo se hace de una forma en la que los contaminantes floculados forman una capa estable en la superficie del agua que fluye. Diferentes grupos de placas metálicas se pueden utilizar en cámaras separadas para eliminar diferentes contaminantes. El voltaje para las placas se controla de una manera tal que se proporciona una dosis de carga conocida para el agua, de este modo, pasa a través del aparto a una velocidad conocida. Esto se controla monitoreando y controlando tanto la velocidad en la que el agua fluye y la velocidad en la que la carga eléctrica es impartida a través del agua. En operación el agua se bombea en la primera cámara donde ft es tratado con el primer grupo de placas. Posteriormente puede fluir en una segunda cámara, con un mecanismo de barrera que limita al floculo de la superficie a que fluya con ella. Este proceso se puede repetir en otras cámaras hasta que el agua sea tratada adecuadamente con diferente grupo de placas. Posteriormente, el agua puede fluir en cámaras adicionales en las que mucho del floculo residual y las burbujas flotan a la superficie. Cada cámara tiene una pared sobre la cual el floculo puede fluir en un mecanismo de desagüe, y un mecanismo para obtener el floculo para que fluya sobre la pared, de esta forma estos sistemas de tratamiento de agua de electrofloculación de flujo continuo operan como un filtro libre de membrana o un sistema de flotación de aire disuelto libre de químicos.
