Se provee un receptor de transmisión tri-dimensional (3D) que incluye un sintonizador para recibir señal de transmisión incluyendo un cuadro de tabla de programa (PMT) y datos de video 3D para contenido de transmisión 3D, un decodificador para analizar sintácticamente el mensaje FPA SEI, analizar sintácticamente información de formato de video 3D, para identificación de formato del video 3D, contenido en el mensaje FPA SEI, analizar sintácticamente información de formato de video 3D para la identificación de formato del video 3D, contenido en el mensaje FPA, SEI, analizar sintácticamente la información ventana de despliegue por omisión (DDW), información de descripción de formato activo (AFD) y datos de barra, contenidos en los datos de video 3D y decodificar los datos de video 3D, un extractor bi-dimensional (2D) para extraer una imagen 2D para despliegue 2D en una estructura de video de los datos de video 3D decodificados de conformidad con la información de formato de video 3D y la información DDW, un convertidor de índice de aspecto para representar la imagen 2D extraída de conformidad con un índice de aspecto del receptor usando la información AFD y los datos de barra, y un procesador de despliegue para desplegar la imagen 2D representada.
