Abstract
La invención se refiere a un proceso de recuperación de hierro a partir de partículas esféricas magnéticas-cementantes, las cuales son generadas a partir de subproductos metalúrgicos como escorias de convertidor básico de oxígeno (E.B.O.F.) mediante la aplicación de un proceso térmico asistido por plasma de Ar-He. Estos subproductos industriales presentan altos contenido de hierro en forma de óxidos con nulas o bajas propiedades magnéticas. La aplicación del proceso vía plasma permite la transformación microestructural y morfológica de estos compuestos base hierro dando lugar a la generación de fases magnéticas, entre otras. El proceso de separación se basa en la clasificación de estas partículas en función de sus nuevas propiedades magnéticas. Es así como al aplicar un campo magnético, las partículas se separan en dos fracciones: una altamente magnética y con bajas propiedades cementantes, y otra fracción con altas propiedades cementantes y propiedades magnéticas casi nulas. La fracción altamente magnética se mezcla con un medio acuoso para formar un aglomerado y facilitar su transporte para ser realimentado a un proceso de fusión de hierro (alto horno y/o convertidor básico de oxígeno). El medio acuoso es agua que opcionalmente puede contener un porcentaje de nanopartículas de sílice que promueven la formación de fases cementantes. La fracción con bajas propiedades magnéticas tiene aplicaciones potenciales como densificante en sistemas no-convencionales de cementos y concretos.
