Abstract

Se describen métodos y composiciones para la generación de un esterilizador de ácido peroxiacético en proximidad al punto de uso; estos métodos comprenden introducir una solución de precursor de acetilo-peróxido de hidrógeno en agua, mezclar, y entonces añadir una fuente acuosa de un hidróxido de metal alcalino o metal alcalinotérreo; la triacetina es un precursor de acetilo preferido y es convertida rápidamente y con una alta velocidad de conversión en ácido peracético; estos métodos producen soluciones con un alto nivel de ácido peracético; se proveen también métodos para preparar la solución de precursor de acetilo-peróxido de hidrógeno; se describen también composiciones sólidas que comprenden un precursor de acetilo líquido, una fuente soluble en agua de peróxido de hidrógeno, y una fuente de alcalinidad soluble en agua; la composición sólida es un sólido libremente fluido que se usa como un agente de blanqueo y un removedor de manchas para el tratamiento de artículos tales como telas, dentaduras, prendas textiles y equipo usado en la industria de alimentos y de bebidas.
