Abstract
Un fluido de escape diésel (DEF) para reducir óxidos de nitrógeno en las corrientes de escape diésel en tanto que también se reduce la deposición de urea y/o compuestos de descomposición de urea en los sistemas de escape diésel de motores que usan DEF y requieren reducción catalítica selectiva. El DEF tiene aproximadamente 15% en peso a aproximadamente 40% en peso de urea; agua sustancialmente purificada; y un aditivo compuesto que genera agua en las corrientes de escape de diésel a temperaturas mayores de 100 °C, interfiere con reacciones competitivas que de otro modo evitarían la descomposición de urea o producirían compuestos de depósito de descomposición no deseados, incluido biuret, ácido cianúrico, amelida, amelina y melamina o ambos generan agua e interfieren con las reacciones competitivas. El aditivo compuesto es preferentemente un azúcar, ácido acético o acetato de amonio. También se divulga un método relacionado para usar el DEF en un sistema de escape diésel y un sistema que incluye el DEF como un componente.
