Abstract

La presente invención describe una novedosa nucleasa bacteriana del sistema CRISPR-Cas9 de la bacteria P. pneumotropica, así como también su uso para producir rupturas de cadena doble estrictamente específicas en una molécula de ADN. Esta nucleasa tiene propiedades inusuales y se puede utilizar como herramienta de modificación de la secuencia de ADN genómico en la célula de un organismo unicelular o multicelular. Así, aumenta la versatilidad de los sistemas CRISPR-Cas9 disponibles, hecho que permite el uso de distintas variantes de nucleasas Cas9 para el corte de ADN genómico o plásmido de distintos organismos en un número mayor de sitios específicos y/o en condiciones específicas.
