Abstract

Según aspectos de la invención, se proporciona un método para codificar un video de entrada en una pluralidad de flujos codificados, en donde los flujos codificados pueden combinarse para reconstruir el video de entrada; puede proporcionarse un método de codificación que comprende: recibir un video de entrada; muestrear de forma descendente el video de entrada para crear un video con muestreo descendente; instruir una codificación del video con muestreo descendente usando un codificador base para crear un flujo codificado de base; instruir una decodificación del flujo codificado de base usando un decodificador de base para generar un video reconstruido; comparar el video reconstruido con el video con muestreo descendente para crear un primer conjunto de residuos; y codificar el primer conjunto de residuos para crear un flujo codificado de primer nivel, que incluye: aplicar una transformación al primer conjunto de residuos para crear un primer conjunto de coeficientes; aplicar una operación de cuantificación al primer conjunto de coeficientes para crear un primer conjunto de coeficientes cuantificados; y aplicar una operación de codificación al primer conjunto de coeficientes cuantificados, en donde la aplicación de la operación de cuantificación comprende: adaptar la cuantificación basada en el primer conjunto de coeficientes por cuantificar, incluyendo variar un ancho de paso usado para diferentes coeficientes del primer conjunto de coeficientes, en donde un primer conjunto de parámetros derivados de la adaptación se señaliza a un decodificador para permitir la descuantificación del primer conjunto de coeficientes cuantificados.
