Abstract
Se proporciona un proceso para mejorar un producto de carbón. El proceso comprende las etapas de: (i) proporcionar una composición de carbón purificada, en donde la composición está en forma de partículas sólidas, y donde al menos aproximadamente el 90 % en volumen (% vol) de las partículas sólidas no superan aproximadamente 500 µm de diámetro; y (ii) combinar la composición de carbón purificado con una materia prima de carbón sólido, con el objetivo de crear un producto de carbón mejorado de mezcla combinada sólido-sólido. Además, se proporciona un proceso para la preparación de un producto de carbón purificado. El proceso comprende las etapas de: obtener un material de partida que comprende carbón; someter el material de partida a al menos una etapa de trituración fina para reducir el material de partida a una composición en partículas en la cual sustancialmente todas las partículas no tienen más de 500 micrómetros (µm) de diámetro; exponer la composición de partículas a al menos una etapa de flotación de espuma para separar el material hidrocarbonado comprendido dentro de la composición de partículas de la materia mineral, en donde durante la al menos una etapa de flotación de espuma el material hidrocarbonado se asocia con la espuma producida y separada de al menos una etapa de flotación de la espuma; lavar la espuma separada de al menos una etapa de flotación de la espuma con agua para liberar el material hidrocarbonado; y someter el material hidrocarbonado a al menos una etapa de deshidratación para obtener un producto de carbón purificado particulado que tiene un contenido de cenizas de menos de 12 % m, un contenido de agua de menos de 25 % m y en donde las partículas comprendidas dentro del producto de carbón particulado purificado tienen un d90 de menos de 100 µm. También se proporcionan productos, tales como carbón peletizado o en briquetas, que comprenden material de carbón purificado obtenible mediante los procesos descritos.
