Abstract

The invention relates to a micronized and activated natural zeolite, a process for the preparation thereof, and the use thereof as systemic oxidative stress modulator and detoxifier in humans, by means of the increase in blood levels of antioxidant enzymes, the reduction in lipid peroxidation, and detoxification. In particular, this is a micronized and activated natural zeolite with a particle size of from 1 to 11 microns, a surface area of 20 to 40 m2/g, thermal activation at a temperature of between 200°C and 300°C for 2 to 4 hours, and tribochemical activation treated in the dry state in a high-intensity turbomixer, at a speed of between 850 and 7500 rpm, at a temperature of between 25°C and 100°C, for 10 to 30 minutes. The product of the present invention may be used as systemic oxidative stress modulator and detoxifier in a number of pathological conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, endothelial dysfunction, diabetes mellitus, cancer or metabolic syndrome by means of the production of pharmaceutical preparations and food supplements in the form of powder, tablets, hard capsules, soft capsules, suspensions, etc.
