Abstract
Un método para preparar una sonda de radiofrecuencia enfriada, para su uso para tratar el tejido del cuerpo de un paciente, incluye proveer una pluralidad de sondas de radiofrecuencia enfriadas. Cada una de la pluralidad de sondas de radiofrecuencia enfriadas incluye un miembro alargado con una región distal y una región proximal. Las regiones distales tienen, cada una, un dispositivo eléctrica y térmicamente conductor para suministro de energía, para suministrar una de energía eléctrica y de radiofrecuencia al cuerpo del paciente. Los dispositivos eléctrica y térmicamente conductores para suministro de energía tienen, cada uno, una o más luces internas para hacer circular un fluido de enfriamiento a través de los mismos, y una proyección eléctrica y térmicamente conductora que tiene un elemento de detección de temperatura. Los elementos de detección de temperatura de cada proyección se extienden desde un extremo distal del dispositivo de suministro de energía. Aún más, cada uno de los elementos de detección de temperatura tiene una longitud diferente que se extiende desde el extremo distal del dispositivo de suministro de energía. El método además incluye determinar por lo menos uno de un tamaño de lesión deseado o una tasa deseada de suministro de energía requerida para tratar el tejido. Como tal, el método incluye seleccionar una de las sondas, a partir de la pluralidad de sondas de radiofrecuencia enfriadas con base en la longitud del elemento de detección de temperatura de la misma, que logra el tamaño de lesión deseado o la tasa deseada de suministro de energía.
