Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un método para producir un granulado expandido hecho de material mineral en forma de grano de arena con un agente expansor, por ejemplo para la producción de un granulado expandido de perlita o arena de obsidiana; en donde el material se alimenta a un horno; en donde el material se transporta en un eje del horno dispuesto sustancialmente en forma vertical al horno a lo largo de una trayectoria de transporte a través de varias zonas de calentamiento dispuestas verticalmente separadas entre sí, en donde cada zona de calentamiento se puede calentar con al menos un elemento de calentamiento controlable independientemente; en donde el material se calienta así a una temperatura crítica, a la cual las superficies de los granos de arena se vuelven plásticos y los granos de arena se expanden debido al agente de expansión; en el que el material expandido se descarga del horno, en el que además el material se alimenta junto con una cantidad de aire desde abajo, en el que el material se transporta de abajo hacia arriba a lo largo de la ruta de transporte por medio de la cantidad de aire que fluye de abajo hacia arriba en el eje del horno y forma un flujo de aire, y en donde la expansión de los granos de arena tiene lugar en la mitad superior, preferentemente en el tercio superior de la ruta de transporte.
