Abstract
Un aparato, que incluye un generador de campo magnético, un primer sensor de campo magnético configurado para acoplarse a un extremo proximal de una herramienta quirúrgica configurada para insertarse en un cuerpo, y un dispositivo de calibración que incluye un segundo sensor de campo magnético y un sensor de proximidad, en donde los sensores de campo generan señales de ubicación respectivas que responden a un campo magnético que emana del generador y que atraviesa los sensores de campo; el aparato incluye una unidad de control, que recibe las señales de todos los sensores, extrae las coordenadas de ubicación y orientación respectivas de los sensores de campo basados en las señales, calcula una relación de conversión entre las coordenadas del primer sensor y un extremo distal de la herramienta que se pone en contacto con el dispositivo de calibración y, posteriormente, aplica la relación de conversión, junto con las coordenadas del primer sensor, para proporcionar una indicación visual de una ubicación del extremo distal dentro del cuerpo.
