Abstract

Se proporciona una fuente de sonido coherente para prospecciones sí­smicas marinas. Un proyector de sonido subacuático ejemplar comprende una pluralidad de pistones accionados por un generador de fuerza electromagnética que tiene componentes que comprenden un estator, armaduras, bobinas eléctricas, e imanes permanentes. Los pistones y los componentes están dispuestos para crear una simetrí­a mecánica y magnética alrededor de un centro geomótrico del proyector para reducir las cargas de reacción que se producen cuando se accionan los pistones. El estator y las armaduras tienen postes magnéticos que emplean una geometrí­a cónica. El proyector opcionalmente incluye sistemas de control para mejorar la fidelidad del generador de fuerza, proporcionar una compensación de presión a los pistones, ajustar con precisión la posición estática de los pistones, y/o cambiar la profundidad y balance cuando el proyector está configurado como un cuerpo de remolque. Una pluralidad de tales proyectores se puede configurar en un arreglo. Un umbilical puede conectar los proyectores a un buque, transmitir energí­a eléctrica y gas comprimido a cada elemento de arreglo y/o proporcionar un medio de transmisión de datos entre el proyector y el buque.
