Abstract

Las modalidades descritas se refieren a una composición que comprende un frústulo de diatomea y dos o más nanopartículas fotocatalíticas dispersadas en la superficie del frústulo. También se describen modalidades de un método para elaborar la composición. Las nanopartículas se dispersan de tal que se separan y no están en contacto físico entre sí. Una distancia promedio entre las nanopartículas puede ser de mayor que 0 nm a 100 nm. Las nanopartículas pueden comprender un material impurificante. Las composiciones de pintura que comprenden la composición de frústulo de diatomeas también se contemplan. La composición de frústulo de diatomea puede ser útil para eliminar y/o degradar compuestos orgánicos volátiles, tales como aquellos presentes en la atmósfera.
